It's not like I'm asking for realism, but theres some sort of disconnect when we're playing a game with a futuristic setting, yet our characters can't do things we can do right now, such as having a nice, planet wide map we don't have to draw every day we open our eyes.
We can also add plenty of markers and trace routes, by the way
fanboys - go watch nooblets video. Its actually pretty depressing. Oh look I built a base and now I have to leave it...ok...sure...must be some good reason.....*drops you in the same exact ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lake spot 4 missions in a row* WTF
Because each beta test weekend was in a different biome rather than having the whole map to explore, so no one would have noticed it due to that fact.
Plus during beta we had no access to the map anyway because the devs didn`t want us to know where everything was.
Damn. Wrong way to beta.
There is no other explanation why there are certain objects at a certain spot in one mission and not in another mission. Also it makes not sense, we have to leave the surface because of mega storms (end of timer) and then come back to the same place and all trees are still standing and so on.
Furthermore it explains, why we never find our old structures again.
So we never visit the same place two times, but Rocketwerkz couldn't provide a much larger or more than one map yet.
Storms don’t melt mountains and mountains don’t pop up in an instant. Otherwise we would never land on the planet. Be real. Plus if you are sent on a mission to explore a specific area obviously the general geography is already know. Satellites can’t get basic elevation and geography easily and almost instantly.
Also its a moon, not Jupiter. it doesn't have endless area to explore so a randomly generated map wouldn't make any sense either.
And finally, why is that some regions are affected by said doom storm every 7 days while others last for 30 days? This happens on missions within the same region.
I could stretch this as far as to say I don't need to walk around to have a map of the Earth, I suppose a space faring mankind terraforming places here and there, can produce satellites? Maybe they could have previously scanned the areas before sending you down there? Hell, maybe YOU should have scanned the area before going down? So many questions.
The space station itself could scan the surface. So the general topology could be known at least, yes. Maybe the clouds are too dense or something like that. The station hast been crafted out of ship parts and has never been supposed to be a space station, as far as I know. So the technical options could be limited. At least, this would explain the necessity for on surface scanning missions, right?
I can't recall for sure how the missions are relating to each other. In your example, you visit the blocked path once to clear it. In the next mission, you are behind that obstacle already.
Icarus is a planet, not a moon. You can see this at the shop page or at the wiki. So it should be large enough to have storms here and nice weather there. There have been huge , deadly storms in the USA this week. Did people in New York or Seattle noticed them? I doubt. In Germany, I didn't for sure.
Have been typing that for a while too but they still won't get it.
It's a major mistake on the devs part not to implement more maps, this is why players are confused since "it's the same map so why...?"
