How to heal other players?
Hey all, I'm hoping someone out there can help me out. My friends and I are new to the game, but enjoying it so far. However, I'm finding that even with bandages equipped, and the prompt on the bottom of the screen saying I can right click to heal other people, the game just... won't let me heal someone else? Am I missing something? I tried looking for answers online but nothing popped up.

Read the item descriptions. Most medical items are designed to fix a debuff. In the case of bandages they fix the Wound debuff, that's it. No extra HP recovered. So the prompt to right click to heal others is allowing you to heal the Wound debuff from your friend or tamed mount.

The only items that heal HP are health potions and tonics that specifically call out recovering HP in their description. And food. Cooked meat stacks to 20 and each one heals 20 HP when eaten, you can throw a stack on your hotbar and spam the button for 400hp of healing.

Higher quality cuts of cooked meat heal even more then 20 HP.

As rekal said, their are "potions" you can make on varying levels of crafting benches that will heal 200, 250, or 500 HP. The 500 one requires a T4 chemistry bench IIRC. They have a press and hold mechanism for using them, so there's a delay to use them.

There's no delay at all for eating things like meat. 20 pcs of meat, you can spam that hotbar and suck them all down. I have situations where I messed up and the only thing that saved me was blowing through a whole stack of meat. Often while I was still being hit by a creature.

Also, don't forget the food system. Eating food increases your max HP. You have a different number of food buffs that can be active at one time depending on your talents.

If a food buff has worn off, eating more food will _instantly_ increase your max hp. A whole new chunk of healthbar is added, already filled. In some cases this can nearly double your healthbar, and if multiple food buffs have all worn off, restoring them may max your health bar, or get it super high (like 80% to 90%)

Same question here! I know my fellow prospector has a minor wound, I try to apply a bandage to them with the right click, wait till the round progress completes - and nothing happens. Same with the health tonic - I know that they don't have debuffs and their health is not full, I do apply it with the long right click - and nothing happens. BTW the item is not consumed also which makes me thinking I'm doing something wrong.
We solved it by handling a healing item to another player and self-applying, but that looks to be rather ugly solution.
Please advise!

Might be lag, did you try holding right click for a bit longer after it said it was done?

I wonder if the newly added H.E.A.L device can be used on players.

It's added in the second null sector mission. You scan NPC's and it displays a screen showing their ailments. There are boxes at the bottom of that HEAL device screen to put cures. They're automatically applied to the NPC's. Put an oxygen tank in, and it topped off their oxy. Same for canteens refilling their water. Even food.

I believe it's T3.

Double checked - it's not lag :/. Looks more like either a bug or I'm missing something.

Interestingly enough: right-click healing works perfectly on mounts, but not on other prospectors. I'd say it smells like a bug.

Pick them up if they are downed and let them worry about their own healing. You can always drop the items required for them if you have them and they don't.

That's how we work it around now. Kinda inconvenient: instead of just healing you have to split the stack of bottles/bandages/whatever, pick a clear place to ensure it's not lost in bushes / grass (even then it still might be lost in textures) and explain the injured player where to find it.
