First uninstall again, then go to here and delete everything that remains:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Icarus\
That will delete any extra game or mod files that may have been missed on your first pass.
Then go to here:
C:\Users\[WindowsUserName]\AppData\Local\Icarus\Saved\PlayerData\
There will be a folder named with a stream of numbers, that is your Steam ID. Grab that folder and move it somewhere else safe as backup. That folder holds your character and prospect files.
Then go back up a couple folders to here and again delete everything:
C:\Users\[WindowsUserName]\AppData\Local\Icarus\
This will delete all the settings and keybindings and give you a complete clean slate.
Now reinstall and see if you can create a character and get into play. If you can, then you now know that your Icarus install is good again.
Move your backup character and prospect files back into place overwriting the new files created by Icarus. Try again and if it blacks out you know the issue is actually the data in your save files -- either something in the prospect file caused by the mods is corrupted, or something in your character file is corrupted so you're going to lose some kind of progress.
Character.json holds your character info: levels, exp count, talents, recipes, and mission unlocks. Profile.json holds mission completion, a few unlocks, your wealth, and your total character count. Then in the Prospects folder you have your current maps. Those files all have backups you can try to access.
Move backup copies of those files somewhere safe and then check. If you can get in then add them back one at a time until it breaks again. Then rename the backups to the original file and see if you can get in with one of those.
