Open World Drop ship question
I have looked online and cannot find the answer to this... I am playing Icarus in OPEN WORLD mode and have created a new spacesuit in the workshop. As I understand it, I have to go back up to the station in order to get it, it will not come to me via dropship. I am level 31 and still learning the game and all and dont wanna start over.

If I go to the station to change suits, can I come back to this same world and continue or will it force me to start a new world? Thanks in advance for the help guys

Yeah, open world will stay here and your mounts and everything. IDK about local save as I play on dedicated server.

Try this :
Start a new open world, land, do something on this world (build a hut), go back to space, see if you can get back to the same place where you built the hut. If it's there it will work.
Send a message if you need anything else.

The answer is there...
Type in the word "How"...
... in the forum "Search this topic" field.

Typing in "Envirosuit" is better :)

thanks for the help. been trying to find the answer and google gave me nothing lol. Same thing for mining exotics and ore. "Deep Mining" was what I was looking for ;)

Look a little more...
I found satisfactory answers...
There are many topics in the forum database that have been covered.

The search engine is a little fickle...
"Refresh" the "Disscusions" page by left clicking on the "Discussions" tab...
Type in "Deep Mining" in the search field...

If I were the programmer...
I would put in a routine to "refresh" the page before the search begins...
Maybe they will fix it...

well I tried it. Dropship said anything in INVENTORY would be lost that wasn't workshop made but pets and other stuff would remain. I moved everything I had on me to storage containers in my base, parked my mounts safely inside their pens and blasted off into space.

Got my new upgraded suit and returned to the same outpost I had created. The world is here, but there is nothing in it. No mounts, no bases... nothing. DOH!!!

So i guess I will buy the new frontiers expansion and start over. Still level 32 tho. Ahhh well.

Hey, sorry for the loss of your progress.

If you want, I wanted to start a new open world with other players, I've got a dedicated server set up, you interested ? You can drop in and drop out how much you like with dedicated server. This applies to anyone else who reads this and wants to join

Also got the new frontires expansion so save your money. I can start a new world whenever you want.

Appreciate the offer man. I might one day join a server. We have a group of us who play these types of games regularly. I was the first to buy Icarus during the Summer Sale and am just working on getting to know how it all works. I was looking for a reason to buy the new frontiers expansion anyway, this was the push I needed lol.

well now I just found a site that says you dont start a new world using the prospect, you LOAD into the session using the LOAD command from space station. Damn, this game can be confusing lol. I will try that and report back. Didn't see a LOAD option but I will look again.

so, a question I've had somewhat in relation to this. If you go back to the station, how do you ensure you come back down to your base instead of landing in a random spot? I don't want to go up and have the drop ship bring me down halfway across the forest from my base.

You can't.

OK so take my lesson learned the hard way... after you return to the station to get new equipment you CANNOT for some stupid reason have drop shipped to you like other things from the workshop, MAKE SURE YOU LOAD the existing world from the character screen.

If, instead, you select NEW WORLD, and enter it one time, THAT NEW WORLD will become the de facto "LOAD" world and the previous one, will forever be gone :)

Lesson learned, onward to new frontiers

I think this is only the case if you use the same exact name for the Open World / Outpost map when creating the new map. These permanent prospects are the only ones that use the name you create for their file names.

Regardless, your auto-saves on your original map should still be there. If you want to switch back to that prospect first leave your new one with your new gear - this prevents your Loadout file from saying "Hey this stuff is on Map X" and your old Map X saying, "Nope, never seen that stuff." Which confuses the game a bit.

Then head to your prospect folder:

C:\Users\[WIndowsUserName]\AppData\Local\Icarus\Saved\PlayerData\[SteamID#]\Prospects

In there you'll see your Open World map's name with a .json extension. That is the current file - MOVE it to a different folder out of the way. You'll also see up to 10 auto-save backups 30 minutes apart. Pick the one with the time before you left the old prospect, COPY it to the same place you put the other file just in case and remove the .backup_# from the file name in the prospect folder.

That should fix you up. Now you can LOAD the old prospect map and then you can leave and return with the collected gear without issue.

yeah, that's what I did. When it said "create new world" I just chose the existing world name because I thought that was how you got back to it and overwrote it. THEN I found the "LOAD" option. At that point, LOADING only loaded up that new version of the world.

Ahhh well. at Level 31 with nothing on me it hasn't taken too long to get back to ALMOST where I was. ;) I have completely quit playing 7 Days to Die in favor of this game lol

You didn't lose your world man. There are 10 autosave files in your Prospect folder. Follow the directions of the guy above you (Rekal) and he explains how you can get your world back in about 5 minutes.
