Mount Food and Greenhouse

I just tamed my first mount (a Moa) and I noticed that the animal food requires a lot of seeds. And it eats like crazy. At this rate I am running out quickly. So I have to setup a greenhouse after all I guess. What should I plant primarily for the mount to feed?

Also, does the mount need a roof? I tried to build it a nice shelter outside with a roof but when I want to ride it, I clip through the roof and I can't open the door.

As far as I understand, I should still try to rush to T4 and just build the Electronic Food Trough - then I can put just anything inside it and it will convert it to Animal Food. But for the time being I need to come up with another solution.

the animals will eat almost enything (maybe even everything) you put in the food trough, i found corn be quite handy (the craftable feed aint needed)

and they dont need any form of shelter, i got mine set to "stay" and "defensive" while just having food and water closeby

and the electric food trough is very powerfull, turns anything into high quality feed whihc last 1 hour

also i speced into farming alot, so i never need to replant my crop aslong as there is plenty of crop plots to feed the animals

The special mount food gives a buff. The buff is good for traveling or doing whatever.

Given you have a farming operation up, and you don't need a greenhouse, you will have more seeds than you need with 6-10 plots.

from what i know, the only buff food for mounts comes from the craftable foods and the electric food trough

Soy beans stack in large amounts and don't forget to salt your food! Salting can help a long ways if you're struggling to keep them fed!

I never did that yet. Do I need the T1 Salting Station or can I use an upgraded version too?

I haven't used an upgraded version just the first version, but I imagine the upgraded station would probably be better.

I am pretty sure there is only one salting station. At tier 2.
