Debuff after drinking water in cave does not go away

I have an unpleasant error or bug or whatever. I drank water in a cave and received a debuff. But it won't go away anymore. The timer runs down to 294 and then resets back to 300. Does anyone else have this and what can I do?

I just noticed that it also affects the Buff Water, which constantly cools me down

Several patches back water quality became a thing. So if you drink bad water you get debuffs and if you put that bad water in your canteen you'll probably keep getting those debuffs.

So what's probably happened is you contaminated your canteen and are constantly drinking bad water which keeps giving you the debuff when you auto sip every few seconds. And of course sipping also gives you the cool down part of drinking water too.

Look at your canteen/water skin and you'll see what the quality of water is inside it. You'll need to empty it out and refill it with some purified water.

There were several water purifier options added as well. The simplest to use is a T0 (hand crafted) one that you simply place into a body of water and add charcoal to.

Hello. Thanks for the explanation. I actually haven't played in a while. I built a rainwater collector and in my day you could drink the water from it without any worries. Apparently that's no longer the case. So the thing is actually useless or can I clean the water here?

The water you collect there can still water your plants and you can cook with it -- water skins don't leak like they used to so fill them up and throw them in your cooking spots for water initially.

That also means you can make tea and coffee - both which you can fill your canteen and sip at to maintain those buffs instead of the purified water buffs.

For this reason, water purifiers were added to the game. The best water quality is achieved with a Tier 3 or 4 water purifier
