Do Trees Regrow?
I havent played this game in a good few months, but I feel like i remember reading they added tree regrowth into the game. Is this a thing, or am I crazy?

In my outpost world everything respawn between sessions... ores, stones and vegetations...

Can't say anything about the other game modes... but I don't think they do...

But I do know you have to do some Frank Herbert'ish things... (if you have read/watched Dune you will know what do to)... just walk without rhythm...

Hail Shai-Hulud... :-)

No, mission and open world trees do not regrow. There was a Future Content bullet in a recent update note that stated something like prototype tree respawn so they're working on it.

Is there any news from the developers regarding tree regrowing since april?

It's still planned for the future. Quoting from this early November discussion on Reddit:

Do saplings in game grow into adult trees or is that a myth?

This is one of my favourite Icarus myths.

I can confirm they don't.
Yet.
We have some a small system in place for tree regrowth but it hasn't been turn on for Icarus yet, we still need to do some testing and iron out some of the bugs.

Will there be a way to keep them from doing that while we are out on excursions?

Yes its going to be an opt in feature.

If they do allow it I hope they make it so if you leave the tree stump it grows back, it you eliminate the stump, it does not.

Certain tracks of land we need to clear for a reason, right?

it can be annoying when trees keep regrowing inside your buildings. I've seen that happen in other games.

I've got the option in settings turned off for fibrous material respawning after restart.

they sure regrow in my world i get so annoyed when i get on and find trees inside my work shops and huge stones covering my defenses :) so i have to cut things down every time i get on, but yeah .. i understand trees but .. huge rocks? unless there is a chance we get meteor showers..

I hope they don't do this, it makes no sense. Trees don't typically regrow from stumps haha

You probably mean the small trees that you can only get sticks out of, right? They do grow back, but they never become big trees.

If you are placing floors on posts near the ground you will always get small trees (sticks and fibre), bushes and stones respawning, though still no tree regrowth It takes a long time for a tree to grow and they never will in this game. Using foundations instead will prevent all regrowth.

Just go to another world. The game was originally conceived for short term missions, bringing you each time to another planet... well, the same, but a little different

As an arborist I can tell you trees can grow back from stumps. They grow with way more branches and gave weaker connections but they do due to the sugars stated in the ground. The Japanese actually farm trees but cutting them at certain heights and letting them regrow to harvest

You need to go back to arborist school, maybe. The most commonly used trees for building (pine, oak, cedar, spruce, maple) are incredibly unlikely to regrow from a stump. Some trees will, like cottonwood or willow, but all of the trees in-game wouldn't. As an arborist, you should be able to tell the trees in-game apart, right?

I would be happy if I could plant trees
