Icarus
Chickens and Sheep
Do chickens make more little chickens if the eggs are left alone?
Do sheep make more sheep if you have at least 2?
I would like to know whether or not i have to buy every last one of them I want, I know every other critter you can tame don't reproduce but you can get those without use of your hard earned station resources. I would assume with the domestic imported animals that making more of them after your purchase should be an option but is not always the case.

As far as I know, the process of animal reproduction is not currently provided.
find it weird they didn't have an electric incubator so you could choose to have more chickens instead of an omelet lol
I wonder if they were concerned about chicken population explosions like what happens in Stationeers.

No reproduction / husbandry at the moment.
It is something that we are keen on though.
While animals should be able to reproduce, I sure hope they wont burn off 6 months just adding to the farmvile aspect of icarus. Even more when a lot of the new additions only boils down to more food recepies. There are loads of way to get food currently. dont need another cow, pig etc for another 2-4 food stuffs.
whats the point if you can't farm the chickens for their resources? Chicken meat and eggs have some great buffs. To have to buy chickens wont make these food choices viable.
well it makes chicken meals very expensive to say the least, the sheep thing is fine since wool is probably its own resource, but chickens should do some reproducing or add an incubator to hatch chickens when you want to. Otherwise chicken is a tad expensive for me lol
is there any news about animals reproduction ? or maybe a planned date ?

RocketWerkz have not posted an ETA, but the Suggestion entry on icarus.featureupvote.com does show that

https://icarus.featureupvote.com/suggestions/548361/suggestion-make-chickens-breedable

Is under consideration but I couldn't find a specific Suggestion for breeding sheep that was not part of the original Animal Husbandry suggestion.

While chickens we purchase in the Orbital shop all seem to be female and do lay eggs, if we slaughter them for meat, as we can do with sheep that we normally shear for wool, we have to buy replacements.
This is a serious defect in general. The workshop costs are almost all far out of balance with value received and the 'progressions' often make no sense with many zero-sum steps (you gain some attribute but they nerf something else). The whole research/buy system seems badly designed too. If it's a 'store', just let me buy things. If I'm learning to craft new things, let me craft them with my own resources and take them back and forth. Don't double charge me. The only thing that makes sense in this system is to tax you to unlock more of the tree even if you never buy the item itself. All told, very little of the workshop tree seems worth the bother. The game is two different games mashed together and the seams are pretty ugly.

Hmm must not have been too keen. :(
You can train a Moa (eventually) so that if slain and young Moa will spawn to take its place. Can't you just do that? It would take a long time to level up skills between slayings but you could eventually produce three or four chicken meals if you devoted a lot of time to it.

The cat has that in its talent tree, but I don’t think the chicken does.

I use eggs for cakes, and I want 100% on bestiary someday, but that’s the only reason I have chickens. There’s no reasonable way to use chickens for chicken meals right now. you’d have to purchase a new chicken each time.

LOL.

Seriously though, it was talked about a while ago. They'll talk about it more when they get close to rolling it out.
