Help Taming Wolves
I've set the snares and caught some wolves but they won't eat. They just ask for more carcasses to feed and won't. I've left them alone in case it's a time thing but half a day has gone by and their taming percentage hasn't moved.

Also they aren't protected from despawning. I caught 2 went into my house not very far away and came out and each time they despawned.
To help you, mine ate a rabbit so far. So maybe try small animals only like rabbits and baby deer

Once the pet is in taming, it won't despawn - but they can be easily killed by other wildlife.

No aggressive wildlife around, no bones left. Both despawned. 100%
I gave the link above, where Fortizar said to: bait the wolf, trap it, throw food at it (he threw a total of 5 carcasses);
Then move away to such a distance that the wolf's 'aggression level' disappears, but do not move too far away so that it does not disappear from sight; that is literally 20-30 meters further from the distance when the aggression marker disappears;
Then wait for the wolf to eat, at which time it will be tamed.
When the life bar over the wolf disappears, as it is displayed usually over all animals, then the wolf will be in a tamed state. Although you can still periodically go over and check it yourself.

So best bet is to find nearby stuff like pronghorns, snipe em off, snare a wolf nearby and feed?
If you want, you can even feed wolves with jaguars. Kill someone nearby and throw it to the wolf.

I tried taming several Snow Wolves on Styx to no avail. They don't try to eat anything but me. Not even going to try for a Pack Wolf at this point.

I found, after trapping, that you want to be nearby always for the taming to happen. Do not go outside of rendering range, you will lose your wolf on the snare (I've had the despawn turn into a reset trap, which didn't function anymore so I had to manually reset). I offered 3-4 different carcasses, but my first tame only needed 3 to be fully tamed. Basically, I creeped around until the taming was complete, only took about 10-15 minutes. I also found that dropping the carcass on sneak and then alerting the wolf of your presence helps to break its idle animation.

I knew it was a de-spawn issue. I had 2 wolves disappear as well.

The first time, I went inside the house to do some crafting and the second time I went to hunt a deer like 150m away or so to feed my wolf. Both times the wolf was just gone. No animals around either. I just don't have the patience or the motivation to try again knowing it will, once again, disappear.

I also turned off my on-base creature deterrent, it helps with attracting wolves if your snare is close to your base.
There is some issue on mine also, the only corpse that reads as valid is a rabbit corpse, all others have an X over them as if the wolf were not literally surrounded by every corpse around it. The rabbits are hard to find however and by the time I have found a second or third, the wolf has de-spawned.

I play with a friend and as soon as he just looks away from the wolf in the trap it despawns. Happend 5 times so far. If i am in a different area, like a said he just looks away and its gone how can i stop that from happening?

once tamed what do we feed them? do I need a trough of meat or do I cook the meat or dry it on the rack? horses eat the veggies but the wolves do I drop carcasses after tamed?
