Icarus
Open worlds
Hi there.

I have two questions about open world.

1) When i leave the open world and play missions, i can still load back in later with everything still there, but: Can i have multiple open worlds on different Maps and kind of switch between them how i feel like it?

2) When i have friends in my open world, they can play without me beeing there and host the world themselfs. What happens when my char is no longer on that open world, but on a mission or something, do i (as the original host) still get updated saves from the open world?

1) In Icarus you can be in dozens of Openworlds, Outposts, Missions at the same time. Here you have a single character progress + it’s as if you are in the multiverse.
2) Each map world has its own Host, also known as a server. Everyone can be on the map only as long as the Host (server) is in this world. It is the handler of all events and without it no one can be on this map.
If you are a Host and leave this world, then until you return to it, no one else will be able to join this world.

You can rent a dedicated server from several of the companies listed at the bottom of the server search page. g-portal charges about $14 for a 90 day server, which is pretty cheap. That way, any of you can play at any time, and the server pauses completely if no one is on.

Or if you have a spare machine at home, just make your own dedicated server for free.

But make sure its got a password, you do not want randoms joining and removing your stuff

Ok, thank you all!

I was not sure if they changed how servers/safes work now (had not played in some time). good to know that all open worlds are kept as saves though, leaves more options to start on other worlds and come back later for more operations.
