I find the arrows are the most useful being the equivalent of bone arrows with poison. Save your bones for something else.
They definitely are worth saving, but I just build chests at the mouth of each cave and put them in the chests.
Later on after you have the recipes unlocked, you just build a crafting table in the cave and craft all the resources into what you want. The arrows weigh much less then the raw ingredients.
Then you carry the odd number leftovers to the next cave and repeat. I would make a grand circuit from cave to cave and return with hundreds of caveworm arrows. Put the extras into storage.
But why would you require that many arrows? They don't break that much and they quickly becomes obsolete as soon as you tech into Tier 3.
Personally I ignore the cave worm items. They're really not that great.
Filling out the bestiary takes forever but if you're just running along and randomly plinking away at anything that moves it starts to add up pretty fast. The bestiary character stat bonuses at 40% and 100% can be pretty nice. Not having to chase your arrows down speeds this up.
Fliers like the drakewings and the drifter in Prometheus you're unlikely to get your arrows back from so you'll be losing arrows there too. Especially if you're missing the drakewings high up. So again, cheap ammo to throwaway has its use.
Two - in Styx and Olympus they are the highest damage DOT weapons available to craft. Poison also stacks so taking down the giant scorpion with these is really easy when it goes into heavy armor mode and suddenly your projectile weapons are only doing 25% damage.
Changing ammo can be a pain, but bows break right? Bring an extra bow and have it loaded with your throwaway cheap ammo and rotate the bows to keep the wear even until you get back to repair.
Edit: drake wing one word non-plural is censored??? But drakewings isn't. Odd.
