2) When you complete a mission or go into orbit from your Openworld into a dropship, all items from your inventory or dropship should appear in the ‘Loadout’ after the character selection menu.
3) You can only return your things back into orbit. All things from the orbital store have their owner and he is written there.
4) Everything will work in the above manner only if there is no interference with the game files, for example by using mods.
Workshop gear are the only items you're allowed to bring down with you at the start of a mission. Workshop gear is there to help you get a headstart on missions, and solve basic problems as soon as you land. It's sort of the meta progression of the game.
That's why some of the workshop items are so expensive. It's an investment. You can reuse them over and over and over on missions. As long as they aren't left on the planet when you climb into the droppod, you will have them available to use on the next mission.
And workshop gear can be brought down into any game mode... including open world and outposts. In fact, I wouldn't even bother with open world until you have some decent gear to speed up getting enough resources to build a decent base. People going into open world with a level 1 character, and no gear, have sort of signed up to do it the really really hard way. And the slow and tedious way.
At the end of the mission, workshop gear is the only thing that will not be auto-deleted when you return to orbit. Any opened bundles (like 25 packs of arrows) will be deleted too. Unopened bundles will go back into your loadout screen, and will be available next mission.
But anything you crafting down in a mission is going to just go poof. Gone. That is one of the major parts of mission mode. Just consider it over aggressive customs control & quarantine protocols. Smelly half cured furs from some animal? out the airlock. Knives and spears? violates safety protocols, out the airlock. And so on, and so on.
