On olympus map, you work your way across the chain of missions to "Spriritwalk exploration".

Explorations are free form no goal sandbox missions, with 30 day timers.

BUT... they also always have 3 exotic nodes, with a range of possible amounts. On that missions, it's anywhere from 600-1200 exotics.

Spiritwalk exploration has a few specific advantages from any of the other "exploration" missions.

On spiritwalk, there's always 3 exotics nodes, hidden at 6 possible locations. On other explorations, it's 10 possible locations (takes longer to go there and check). Spiritwalk also only has one location in an arctic biome, which is the polar bear zone in southeast corner of map. Other explorations have 3 of the 10 possible spots in the arctic (1 polar bear area, 2 in wolf territory in center of the map).

So spiritwalk exploration has less places to check, less of them in arctic (polar bear, giant snow scorpions, etc). Most of the possible sites are around the outer edge of the map. You will start in the riverlands in northwest corner of the map.

You by the way, will land literally next to a single massive cave that's hidden across a small lake next to a waterfall. That cave has enough materials to get all the way to tier 3 and tier 4 easily. You will only need to forage for silica and sulfur.

The nearby forest always has tons of Moas & baby moas, so you can tame a moa very quickly, and then zip around the map running from one possible site to the next.

I bring a radar down, but I only use it in one spot... that is to check if the deposit is actually in the polar bear zone. If not, I just keep running. The radar lets me know If I can skip even going in there.

For best results, it's better to own a workshop extractor & fuel cells, and workshop radar. I would literally say buy those two things first with any exotics you get. It speeds up the whole mission drastically. You can YOLO it and literally just run to an exotics site. I like to gear up in that big cave, tame a moa, etc. It pays off during the rest of the mission. Plus I need the moa to carry one of the two big items (extractor or radar), since my character can only carry 1.

I do similar, but hadn't considered a moa. I'll try that. One thing I do different - I use the orbital exchange and only pull down the extractors (I use 2 for faster pulls) and fuel cells if I find an exotics vein. Can send them back up and pull them back down as needed, and only pull down the number of fuel cells you need at the time. I carry the orbital exchange with me everywhere. Good luck!

I do the same. I have the suit that allows 4 modules, and I bring an armor set. So combined together, my load out doesn't fit in the slots for the drop pod anymore. I land with 2/3rds of it, and order the remaining. That's when I have the extractor and fuel cell sent down. I don't even order the radar until I get into the southeast corner of olympus and I'm at the point where I need to know if I enter the arctic biome or not.

Even then, sometimes it points straight at the site in the arctic, and If I'm just not feeling it... I skip that node. It's not that it's hard, it's just annoying dealing with the whole mess in there sometimes. I can start another spiritwalk exploration, and be mining my first node on the new mission in a really short time.

And I bring drop pod recall beacons, so as soon as I get to the 3rd deposit and mine it out, I call the drop pod and blast off to orbit. Mission finished.

how do you make orbital exchange buying and sending items back to orbit? i thought i can only sent exotics back with orbital exchange

you can bring down or send up any workshop items - not just the exotics. You use the exotics and Ren currency to buy the workshop items.
