Not anymore...Hasn't worked the last 2 updates for me (.31 + .32)..
So bummed!
OF COURSE social graces frown on any one player freezing everything up in multi-player mode. No one is asking for the power to gank other players on their lonesome when everyone involved has agreed to team up and PLAY, not pick their noses while some inconsiderate dork deals with a side issue. I think we'd all agree on the presumption and rudeness of having/using such a capability. If it's "game night" and all the buds have shown up to play, then frigging PLAY for Pete's sake. If ya can't commit to that, don't join the session, right?
Solo mode is a whole 'nother ball of wax. No one else is being held up if I pause for a moment, like the OP said, to answer the door, go to the bathroom, make another cup of coffee, etc. Or some pesky phone call, whatever.
Having to exit to character screen or quit to desktop means when the player comes back he has to sit through the game load, not to mention the pesky issue of having your inventory re-arranged if you have any sort of bag upgrade. It's just a delay followed by a hassle.
There's no logical reason not to be able to FULLY PAUSE the game in solo mode. Heck there's a whole talent set enabled for solo mode, wasn't the pause feature thought of with that team meeting as well?
I still vote no...
"Survival" has no pause button...
I get around it by ALWAYS having enough building components to make a small building on me. I plunk down floors, walls, roof, etc. Sometimes I don't even bother with a door, I just seal myself in a box with four solid walls. Then I can go to the restroom, get a drink/snack, and the worse that happens is something is attacking the walls when I come back.
Solo mode. Just a computer game. No other humans but one's little old lonesome involved. In order to do things in some "pause" moments might require so we can eventually have the $$ to pay the dev's to make more content. Real life happens and - remember it's solo mode here - the NPCs and little pretend rabbits which are actually just 0's and 1's sitting in a bazillion transistors a few feet away don't even have minds from which they could even care about the pause...
That big epic boss one just downed. Also 0's and 1's and it never really existed. One never actually killed it. It never existed. Just a game.
It's entertainment, not real.
As a combat vet I've seen actual life-n-death scenarios. It didn't involve sittin' on my arse in a warm cozy chair clicking a mouse.
List^ the reasons for a pause function for this game...
It would be entertaining to read it :)
While all of this can be done by exiting to character menu that does take time to reload.
Maybe "they" should make...
"Bio break" gaming chairs...! :D lol
Hooked^ up to plumbing and everything...! :D
Or...
Just move your PC into the kitchen or bathroom :)
Just having fun :)
I still think the idea of a pause function is silly for this game...
They do have a third party "mod" for it right...?
Considering the "mod" exists...
This thread may be over...
Solo mode - the 0's and 1's as rivers, skies, rabbits, launchable pods and epic mobs don't care and don't get bored or frustrated while they wait. Because "pause" does not erase the fact that that one is about to get hit by non-existent 0's and 1's bear, "survival" - as lauded above and I agree with - is un-affected. Un-pausing doesn't return you to your workbench where you can repair your spear or allow you to apply bandages and health tonics while said fake bear hangs in mid-air, fangs dripping with saliva anticipating gnawing on your skull, waiting for you to heal up. Pause - everything stops, un-pause everything resumes.
There is literally NO REASON for solo-mode not to be pauseable.
A third party "mod" exists to "pause" the game...
Get it^ if you want it...
If this thread is trying to have a "pause" feature added to the game...
Without the installation of a third party "mod"
I don't believe it will happen...
