To get worse graphics but at the same time increase hardware requirements even more? The requirements here are already quite high without any UE5.
Unfortunately many of the things we are doing are custom additions we made to UE, and some of those would need to be redone. Additionally, a lot of our art work would need to be redone to make use of nanite, etc...
This would be very, very expensive - probably 25 to 50% of the cost it was for us to make the game.
Ah, well I hope one day we will get a UE5 port reguardless, the game is awesome. Love both this and Stationeers !
I agree, but i also see where Rocket is coming from. If he did make the upgrade to UE5, it most likely wouldnt be free. Although i feel it should be heavily discounted for people who own both expansions.
*edit* That's NOT to say I wouldn't mind seeing an U5 version, that engine is a (literal) game changer.
You will really enjoy the game BUT I highly recommend starting with the early missions instead of open world. It is a much easier way to level your character up as those first 10 or so levels come slowly in open world. This is what I personally just did to lvl my newest character.
You may even find you prefer the missions as Open World is not bad but the Missions once were the thing that made Icarus stand out from other games.
Also I would not build with Tatch as it is a waste. Speed lvl by crouch/stealth killing then just start with wood. Cave mouths are one of the best places. Fire is a thing you need to be concerned with too. I burned down a few homes in my time HEHEHEHE.
* edit * started playing, decided on open world :) I like consistency and immersion but I understand the benefit of your leveling method
building inside caves might not be a good thing to do, use caution, there are cave worms that come out of the ground, and so far from what I've seen they respawn sometime after you kill them.

+ Electric Dehumidifier cancels the spawn worm zone, https://icarus.fandom.com/wiki/Electric_Dehumidifier
but there is still a problem that when the zones of action of two Dehumidifiers overlap each other, they do not add up (although this may have already been eliminated).
thanks for the map link, I've only found 3 caves so far. I had no idea there was a cave close to my start location.
There are illnesses you get from being in caves too long. Why I use the mouth of the cave for my first base. The mountain seems to help with wind plus I have a place to move supplies should my base catch fire. Yes that is a thing. Burned down a few homes. LOL
