When using the drop ship beacon you are not returning to the station so items are not destroyed.
You can use the beacons to move items safely.

While you do not personally ascend into orbit on the dropship, the contents of the dropship are preserved while flying around Openworld. This is how the ‘unrefined’ red exotic is carried around Prometheus.
I personally on Olympus have already transported between my M4 ‘metallurgical plant’ and the F3 base probably as much as will fit into the train: including heavy machines, stacks of stone walls, foundations; stacks of Concrete Mix; stacks of Steel Bloom etc
The game doesn't get 'softer' because Composite Dropship Recall Beacon isn't cheap.
2) If you doubt the safety of such actions, you can always make a full save of all your Icarus progress, so that in case of adverse consequences you can always do a ‘full rollback’.
Save your Icarus to a separate folder on another partition of the drive (or flash drive). (disable Steam clouds, otherwise, when you manually return your saves, there is a chance that Steam cloud will return the original saves.)
-------->! You need to save the entire directory c:\Users\”name your windows account”\AppData\Local\Icarus\Saved
yep, you can use recall beacons to turn the droppod into a moving truck. Best invention ever.
Makes mining red exotics on prometheus not a horror show. The amount of stuff you'd need to carry is insane. Power sources, red exotics miner, organic redidue cleaner, water pump, power and water tools. It nuts.
Red exotics only stack to 20 and weigh a ton too. So either I bring the gear there or use the drop ship to haul the raw red exotics somewhere else. Saves me the trouble of waddling back across the lava biome overloaded with gear (extremely hard to replace gear).
