I would probably start with the "scope"...

If I had the option(s)...
I would turn off all the other "trivial" animations too...
Just^ for the sake of performance...
- Animal deterrent animations...
- Windmill animations...
- Drill animations...
- Radar animations...
- or any other "trivial" animation
I would just leave the "sounds" on :)
