New player on styx. Advice needed

I dont really want to quit the game but the difficulty curve going from the forest to the arctic is a little ridiculous as a solo. I even waited all the way until I had a hunting rifle, am I doing something wrong or is this game just designed around cheese? 10k+ hp pools on an arctic scorpion or polar bear makes it seem like it wants me to sit on rocks and cheese since I already had the best gun available

And this, now we are getting to the point where you don't really need to hit anything lower than a landshark with anything more than a knife... It's all good. If it's too far up in the air, we need to shoot it.

I switch modes, hunter or gatherer... And that ^ is how you hunter.

Is you are a "new" player you should not be on STYX. Olympus is the beginner map, STYX is intermediate and then Prometheus would be hard. Obviously taking level and location into consideration.

I would say Styx is actually harder then the starting areas of prometheus.

Styx has permanent baked in buffs on the creatures and the weather is insane (on a scale of 1 to 10, it goes to 12). And that's across the board on ALL styx, missions or open world.

New players really should stick to Olympus, and knock out exotic mining. Use the exotics to buy basic workshop gear (canteen, oxy bottle, weapons, tools, etc), before moving onto other maps. That way when you go into other maps, you have all of your immediate concerns taken care of when you get out of the drop pod. You're not worrying about water, air, or getting jumped by something.

Well that explains the 3 lightning storms I had in my first 2 days on Styx... My beautiful base, never really got built before getting wrecked.

Yea when it comes to making a beginner base before stone it's best to build close to a mountain and small. I usually only try to make it 1x3 till I get to stone. That goes for any map really. Once you get to stone you can do whatever you want... yay :)

Quick question for a noob, is concrete weather proof, the tool tip says stone has 50% resistance but concrete says nothing

In my 500 hours of playing I have ran into storms that can damage my stone base like 2 or 3 times.. I think it is mission specific weather.. I have yet to have anything affect my OW base which is stone on STYX or Prometheus.
