For example: I'm playing Openworld Olympus, there are actually no trees in the desert. It's okay, I regularly bring a full inventory of firewood to the desert from the forest biome (top-left part of the map) - that's how I play.
PS What I mean is that you can go to another area to chop down trees. Not everything has everything – it’s a balance.
Prospector, "When I land in the "lava" biome; I will plant trees..."
I love this Icarus community...
Those little scraggly dead dried out trees (they look like drift wood on a beach) that give wood and sticks. And they respawn after time.
Then there are full gown "cactus" trees. They give wood, sticks, and treesap (and a 4th thing, can't remember right now). Still not sure if they respawn. I am starting to think they do. I have a base in P4, and sometimes I head south, then next time I head north. I see new trees (both dried drift wood looking one and full size cactus trees) in areas I KNOW i cleared out.
Then there are small plants with bulbous bases that will give fiber and other things. I know they respawn too.
I ended up in a situation where I had stacks and stacks and stacks of ingots (iron, platinum, titanium and cold steel), but... I didn't have a _single_ unit of wood to make handles. I broke down and ordered a box of wood from the workshop. Worth every penny.
At this point, I carry an orbital exchange radio around with my character continually, so I can stop to order stuff at any point in a mission or while roaming open world.
