Game crashing due to running out of vram
I have 5800x 6900xt 16gb vram and 32gb ddr4 ram. As soon as I load the game my 32gb is maxed and vram is maxed also. Game freezes and crashes stating out of vram. Anyone having this issue? and know of a fix?

This happens to everyone from time to time. For example, we built OpenWorld for ourselves, we built a lot and it no longer fits in the Ram. This problem is starting to appear.

For starters, I recommend setting the OS swap file size to FIXED SIZE 32 GB (this means that when setting ‘Custom Size’ -> ‘Initial Size’ and ‘Maximum size’ must be same -> 32768). The paging file must be on the SSD (system partition C:). It is advisable to have at least 32 GB of physical RAM.
Here, the problems will not be in Icarus, but in Unreal 4, on which the game is built, the thing is that this game engine loves a lot of RAM and, oddly enough, large swap files.
If you are playing on DX12 and you are starting to crash, then be sure to put a 32GB swap file. Or try switching to DX11 (considerably less memory consumption).
First link from Google (do not download any files, just a picture for visual aid)

ive been away for a few days. I remember doing this for star Citizen. I currently have page file to 20gb. so thats 32gb ram. 16gb vram. i doubt raising page file anymore will do anything.
Of course, you may have doubts, but you asked a question - I gave the answer. Further actions are your choice.

PS It was strange for me, too, with my 32GB Ram (which is already quite a bit at the moment) +12GB Vram (6750XT) to see the message ‘Out of video ram’, but nevertheless the reason was the lack of swapfile size.

PSS If you find another solution, write here to help others.

If he screws up his pc, should you or the company be held responsible for giving poor tech support?
The answer is very simple:
1) all questions to the publisher of Unreal 4 engine. It's its game engine that consumes too much Ram.
2) buy more Ram, 64GB to start.

Of course, you can write a complaint to Epic Games Corporation and present this claim to them, and you can also update your computer.

If ram is cheap I'll get more. But hard to justify for one game though. Dx11 runs better. Weird how I wasn't getting this issue until recently.

What have you set your page file size?

32GB swapfile (with a reserve) and the problem was solved (I only advise you what I did myself). Previously, you might not have had this problem because your OpenWorld was smaller, there was less game content, maybe you played on a map where the load was less, etc.
It does not change anything. An error like ‘Out of video ram’ is typical and is not the first time it has been encountered here.
