Feeding a mount while on adventure

I am running my mount around away from base and I need to feed and water him so do i put that in his inventory or do I have to carry a trough for water and food and bed because that makes no sense if i do

As far as I know, all mounts can be ‘hand fed and watered’. You put the items in the hotbar (bottom) and give them something to eat and drink right from it.

Put the food (berries and veggies and such) in a hot bar slot and then while standing next to your mount just right click to feed the mount. repeat until it's full or you run out. To water merely select your canteen or other water container and right click and water level goes up.
