Save system?
Hi,

From some discussions here I figured that one can play solo by starting a local session. I suppose that this means there are no manual saves, as is usually the case when a game requires a local se²²²²²²rver?

Then, how does saving work, if for instance I have to quit right now? Like in other "normal" MMOS, like WoW, EQx, Wurm, will I respawn exacly where I quit and then continue without wasting any time or progress, or does the game save at specific locations so I'll have lost progress?

Yes the game saves when you either return to character screen or choosing to quit to desktop, so when reloading you continue from where you was.
There is no pure singleplayer in this game, when you start any mission, OpenWorld, Outpost -> you become HOST of multiplayer session. Then, if you want, another Steam user can join you if he has a game (it will be possible to be two or more)
or on the same account you can get yourself a second, third character and enter the same world (although I didn’t check this option with Missions, but you can definitely enter OpenWorld 100%, I play with my wife like that) (although at the same time it’s not succeed).
Saves are also made every 60 seconds, but a fully completed save will be when you exit -> ‘Change character’ to main menu.
Your saves are located at
c:\Users\”name your windows account”\AppData\Local\Icarus\Saved
Save the entire directory (there are many different files) so that later there will be no trouble. I recommend periodically saving to another medium (every day or like me every time), if you have two or more of them (I save on the HDD).

When you crate a open world/mission or outpost you are given the opportunity to set it to steam friends only or private, so yes there is single player.

Actually, as far as I know, you can re-enter your own project and change this setting by opening it for Steam friends. And by low level code your project continues to be multiplayer.

Yes i have seen that has well where it asks you again, but i think it is so that if the host is only one that can play for that day then they can set it to private for that session.

Thanks for the replies guys.

And what is the death penalty in single-player? I suppose like in every MMO there will be time loss by respawning at some designated respawn location, but what about the inventory contents, skills or whatever they are called, etc.?

The death penalty has been removed, but not sure if it has been only remove for open world or it is same for other modes has well.

Edit: you don`t lose progression when dying, you drop a bag where you died and can go and collect it has you will see a death marker on compass, and yes when dying you have to choose respawn and select random location. That is the only downfall for single player has playing coop mode team mates can revive you so you don`t die.
