game runs like ♥♥♥♥, seems to be the known hitching problem the devs have mentioned which has not been fixed but will hopefully soon
I get stutter and don't know why. I run mid/high with the costly stuff on mid. I average at 100 fps, which is fine with me. Just the stutter has to go. Seeing that updates come frequently i'm sure this will get fixed soon.

Some recommendations for AMD users, do one - test - and keep going down until you have performance improvements:
- Update your AMD drivers
- Turn on "Simple Building Shadows"
- Make sure "Contact Shadows" is on
- Turn down "Shadows" setting from High, to something lower
- Turn down "Shadow Cascades"
If you still have issues, please raise a support request at AMD, as we would very much like them to spend some time on the game with their hardware diagnostics and get them to put some hardware optimizations in their drivers. Nvidia have been regularly doing this, testing, and including specific changes for ICARUS in their drivers.i have especially at turning left right also at small angles by turning a line of deformationed graphic on that line of blocks or whatever...
My friend they haven't properly optimized AT ALL.
I play on Nvidia. I see that the majority of people who have issues have AMD CPUS. I for some reason have fps drops at night into the low 30s /40s ? how does this happen when there is zero stuff to render because it is night ?
Hi Dean, big fan of you and your games (especially Icarus!), but please, you guys need to focus more on DX12 + RTX optimization. The frequent updates to the game are wonderful with fixes and new content, but none of that really matters when the foundation of your games performance is seriously troubled. I really hope you devs put more time into this than anything else
Appreciate the response, Dean! I ended up reinstalling and firing it up to test/play with a few friends! It seems like a lot of issues (including the torch issue) may be resolved; I only get ~20 fps hit when I join our dedicated server and there are other people around which is totally manageable.
That being said, I'm a little concerned about base fps: just started putting tier 2 benches in our tiny wooden cabin, and are seeing 50-60 fps dips which is somewhat game-breaking. Are there settings or things I can do to mitigate this issue? I get that this is the crux of the "base wipe after mission" core gameplay mechanic, but I just hit tier 2 and am already at half my original fps.
