Farming Wheat?

Am I missing something with wheat? wild wheat you get like 50/ swing (i think) with a scythe but when you plant it, you can only hand grab it giving like 6-8. Seems like the only things not worth growing are the things that would most likely be grown (wheat/lily/yeast). Or can I scythe it and I'm just missing something? How do people get their wheat in Icarus?

I am probably missing something too, but i have a whole greenhouse dedicated to growing wheat and yeast. I harvest it by hand and use it to make a freezer full of bread. I'm not sure if you can scythe it, but i suspect that it has to be hand picked.

Whenever I try to use the scythe it just damages the grow bed underneath...0/10 would not recommend.

If you have all the farming talents you will get 20+ wheat still not great, there is loads of it growing wild better off cropping that with a scythe.

yeah, that's what I've been doing. I guess we can't truly be self sufficient within our base. I haven't tried the farming traits yet. I always figured they'd grow eventually and now I have even less reason to farm if wheat is just never going to pay off. Gotta have my breaded fish, but I'll just go run around and grab it up when I can.

what i do, grab mortar and paste, 1 roof part for shelter, and go and farm as much as possible of wheat, grind on spot and farm again, until you got like 20 stacks of flower
