If you haven't played since before December, you missed the data migration. They moved all data from their servers to your local PC. They removed the button for migrating last week, and I'm guessing they do not plan to restore that button.

You may still be able to get your old character back. Copying from their Discord:

For the people returning to the game after being away for 4+months and wondering where your characters are, save data was moved from a central server to local saves back in December. There has been an option in the game since then to migrate your save data. However, that option has mysteriously disappeared in this week's update.

If you are technically inclined and want to download last week's version of the game to try to do a save data migration, you can follow these steps to do so.

NOTE: Hopefully this will not be necessary for long and the devs will restore some method of migrating data. So if you are not comfortable trying to do this - or simply dont want to be bothered - just wait for news from them on the matter.

If you have played since the decentralization patch in December, this guide is not for you. Following these steps will revert your save to how it was before decentralization.

1. Open Steam console: steam://open/console

2. Run this command in the console:
download_depot 1149460 1149461 4892236385592536102

Wait for the download to complete. There will be no indication of progress, but it will take a while as it is downloading the full game. Once complete, it will print a line like the following:
Depot download complete : "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\content\app_1149460\depot_1149461" (435 files, manifest 4892236385592536102)

3. Go to the location it says it downloaded to. In that folder, you should see Icarus.exe. Do not run the exe directly because it will not be connected to your Steam account. You cannot migrate data if the game is not connected to Steam properly.

4. Make a new text file in this directory and name it RunIcarus.bat. Inside this file, add the following:
@echo off
set SteamClientLaunch=1
set SteamEnv=1
set SteamAppId=1149460
set SteamGameId=1149460
set SteamAppUser=YOUR_ACCOUNT_NAME
set SteamUser=YOUR_ACCOUNT_NAME
set STEAMID=YOUR_STEAM_ID
start Icarus.exe

Replace YOUR_ACCOUNT_NAME (in both places) with your Steam account name. This is the name you log into Steam with, not the one that is displayed in the Steam client. Replace YOUR_STEAM_ID with your SteamID64 which you can lookup at https://www.steamidfinder.com/

5. Save the file, then run RunIcarus.bat to start the game. If the game doesn't start, then you probably have not given the file the proper .bat extension. Check your folder view options and make sure "File Name Extensions" is enabled so that you can see and change the extension to .bat.

6. Once the game is running, you should then be able to use the "Force Data Migration" button at the bottom of the main menu to migrate your save data.

If you get an error like "Failed to get profile", then you probably either entered your Steam details incorrectly, or you ran Icarus.exe instead of RunIcarus.bat. Double check steps 4 and 5 above.

If you get a different migration error, most likely you just need to try to migrate again, or possibly wait a bit. The server is not always responsive.

Once migration is complete, run the latest version of the game and check that your characters are there. If so, then feel free to delete the old version you downloaded to free up disk space.

Then you need to contact the Devs on their Discord and see if there's any more information available.

Steam64ID in Decimal or Hexadecimal format?

(Fetching Profile is NOT WORKING for me, did all exactly as described)

I tried 5 minutes ago with SteamID in decimal.
Seems to work, I only get a timeout while trying to fetch the profile.
But regarding to Discord this can happen and we simply should try again.

Ну не бездари а.. Ну только идиот может не учесть что через пару месяцев вернуться игроки и им как то нужно восстановить персонажей.. Вот этой парашей игроки не должны заниматься.

I would imagine making saves now be PC-side instead of Server-side means that you can just cheat to regain your old strength, or any degree of strength you desire. Real bonehead move to have anything important in a game ever be PC-side, that just opens the door for cheaters to cheat.

This isn't a PvP game, so the only people who will care (or even know) if you cheat are you, and any friends you play with.

----------------
Back in December, Icarus changed where it stores your game data.
We migrated from a central server to storing your game data on your local PC. You can read more about this in our Week 53 update: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1149460/view/3611354355089820956

For the three months after this change, everyone loading the game had their data automatically migrated and downloaded locally.
In March the central servers were closed and we no longer store your game or character data. Unfortunately we can't restore it for you.
----------------

However there are some ways to manipulate your character data to restore at least some of the progress.

Anyway my friends and me will start again from scratch. Good luck everyone.

So, can anyone point me to a guide for this "cheat" that's technically not a cheat if you are restoring your progress.
