Mouse Clicks Not Registering
Greetings! The title says it all, but some specifics may help: It seems to do it only when I'm mining or using the bow. When mining, it won't swing unless I move the cursor off the node and back to it no matter how many times I click. Annoying for sure, but when there's a bear in my face? I need it to work then, but it usually takes me dodging the bear a couple times before it draws again. Can happen with any animal, but it's only the bow and the pick. All other weapons/tools are fine. Anyone else seen this behavior? I did try another mouse and it did the same thing.

I've seen the bow fail to draw, but for me, that was always a display issue, because the arrow still fires (even though I never "drew" the bow).

This has happened to me as well. i usually dodge while disarming and then rearming and then it works but it certainly gets the adrenaline going when the bear is...well... bearing down on ya.

I had the bow issue. I thought it was my mouse giving up the ghost and just not registering but it worked for every other program so I had to rule that out. It only happened when I was lower level so I think it might have something to do with the bow reload time. Once I had the reload speed boost I haven't noticed it since.

I usually mine with button held down, so I haven't noticed it with the pickaxe.

I have had this happen since the server update, but before that I did not have the problem. It can get so bad that there is nothing you can click on and even keystrokes, for things like walking, jumping etc do not go through. And its not just on dedicated servers but also on solo local games. Usually I can fix it by using ESC and bringing up the options screen. Usually choosing 'continue' from that menu will put me back in the game with keystrokes and mouse working. If that does not work then either choosing to become unstuck or if really bad, going back to character selection will fix it. On solo worlds it often is bad enough that I do have to resort to going to the character select screen but so far in missions, where using that screen would pull me out of a mission, especially when playing multiplayer, choosing to get unstuck restores communication with the game. Its obvious that there is some glitch where your local character stops communicating with game, and to re-sync that the options on ESC menu do reconnect your communications

Lag...response IMHO.

I have had the same problems since day one of playing.

My clicks wont register at all on the title screen. Cant start a game, exit (unless Alt F4), or change settings, etc. I have tried restarting PC & reinstalling game.

I am experiencing the same crap. The first time it happened (or didn't happen) while woodcutting. It stops at a certain point eventhough you are punching the buttons. After a few seconds it goes on like nothing ever happened.
I used the same workaround like JAM: moving the focus of the crosshair to a different point and back again.

Thanks for all the info, glad to know it’s not just me. Hopefully it’s on the devs radar, but they have bigger fish to fry for sure.

Since I posted this the issue has gotten much better so I assume it was addressed in an update and I failed to notice it mentioned any patch notes, or something else got fixed that was impacting on the mouse clicks not registering and now the impact is a great deal less. It still is happening, just a lot less.

It was not due to lag, as I can move and do anything that requires keystrokes - it was just mouse clicks that are not registering. I have tried adjusting the mouse sensitivity that did not help.

One thing I did find is that since keystrokes work I can hit the key to bring up any menu (Inventory, Crafting) and the Map, and mouse clicks on those menus and the map work fine but going back into the game and the clicks still are not registering. Sometimes, using ESC itself and then clicking RESUME will solve the issue and if that does not, UNSTUCK will get clicks registering again without having to leave to player selection or main menu as in the past. Its certainly not game stopping anymore, except in cases when you're being attacked and or hunting. Especially hunting with projectile weapons, as it never seems to fail that the click works to fire the first shot (most often with arrow or bolt) and if you don't get a one shot kill, and don't run fast enough you're dead as followup mouse clicks won't do anything - like fire a second shot nor melee the very angry animal you just poked with a sharp pointy thing..

Thank god, i thought i am the only one with this problem!

Mostly every mouse click did not get recognised by the game.
Happens with shooting or placing objects.

Aiming at the enemy and click the left mouse button... nothing happens. had to move my mouse a bit around and try again.

I know this problem from other games too. The problem is the "borderless window" mode!
The mouse goes slightly off the gamescreen and ignore the actions you do with your mouse. You can see this if you play in a smaller windowed mode. Swing around your mouse and click the button. It's clicking sometimes the edge of your screen.
Same happens in borderless window but not "visible".

This is NOT happen in a fullscreen mode!

As some other users have pointed out, it is a lag/stutter issue. So until they improve performance a ton, this issue will persist.
