Repairing tools from work shop

So I have come back to the game after an extended time to check it out to see where it stands now. I started with styx open world built up to tier 4 made electric generator and repair bench this did not repair my work shop items, I did not bring down repair kits as I figured this would work......not. Started new mission on Olympus, brought repair kit and made a repair bench.....not electric and this will not repair work shop tools. What use is the repair kit? Do I need to build up to tier 4 again to try and repair these items. If so I'm done for a while again there are just things that make no sense....this is not the only issue I have had but the most annoying!

To the point....I can repair all the tools that I made on planet from the benches I made them from sooo.... what good is the repair bench?

If you're taking your gear back to orbit, repair them there at the load out screen for 10 credits. It's much cheaper than using the repair kits which are 10 exotics per use. Just be aware, if you place the item in your dropship slots and try to repair it there (before even dropping) it'll cost you a repair kit. Move it back to the left and it's back to the 10 credit repair cost.

The best use I can think of for the repair bench is to treat it as kind of a Forward Operating Base type item. You don't want to bring your fabricating bench and machining bench out on your expeditions but if they're long enough you might need repairs you can bring a solar panel, electric tool, and a repair bench plus the material you need to repair them.

So yeah, repair bench is kind of useless.
