My mission base is a flat 3x3, 18 wood floors and 12 wood walls placed on 16 wood posts to start. I found like you that upgrading directly to concrete the ceiling will not be supported in this configuration. The solution I found was 12 more posts around the walls. Works fine that way.
So the result is 9 wood floors 3x3, 12 concrete walls, 12 wood posts around the exterior walls, with 9 concrete floors for a roof. All supported on my 16 ground wood posts...which could be cut back to 12 ground posts with the middle four spots clear if I cared to.
Usually have it up and running within 90 minutes, the hard part is finding 450ish silica.
I did put wood posts ground to floor, but not floor to roof.
I will do so and test it tonight.
Maybe it has to do with last update ?
In my last mission (before update), I could build stone and upgrade it to concrete without issue.
Now, to upgrade to concrete I had to put stone pillars from ground to floor. And not just one or two, but almost to every concrete floor slabs, I had to put stone pillars.
This is the first time I have difficulties with concrete construction!
And I edit to say that my concrete slabs are not above the ground but flush on the ground. So I'm confused.
