That's fine.
I imagine all the "critical fall deaths" were edited out crafting that route...
"Oh, just let them have it..." lol :D
My prospector would not dare to be "THAT" careless @@'...
After another hour of trying to find a way through to the SE desert to get to the oasis we discovered that we needed to complete other missions that are located further along the quest line to unlock the two passages to this desert. This seems very counter productive/intuitive to the game, especially considering the operations listed appear to progress linearly.
Anyone new to the game would probably start with the first mission and continue that way i.e. moving on to the second, then the third then the fourth etc; that is, unless they
are the type to check wikis to see what the mission is about. We prefer to explore and discover without the benefit of others knowledge, but this obviously backfired on us last night, culminating is a session that lasted from 7pm till 2am until we discovered we couldn't complete the mission because of the blocked entrances to the desert and the oasis.
Grrrrr......
Really miffed at this.
BRILLIANT!
which we'd thought to do that. It took us 7 hours to almost complete the mission where we had to kill 10 animals in the oasis region after building four bases. It was the last part of the mission for the route we took, and at 7+ hours we realised we couldn't access the desert oasis until doing other mission; (unless we did what you did). Wish I'd thought of it at the time.
You seem to have necroed the the one thread that doesn't have someone explaining this fact somewhere in the thread.
Edit: If you've already canceled the mission / operation and given up, there might be an auto-save you can roll back to the middle of the mission so you can complete it without redoing the whole thing.
After posting the comment I saw the video that someone had posted in this thread. As yet the mission hasn't been cancelled, so maybe all's not lost.
Regarding the necroed thread, personally I think the concept is stupid, especially as the game is still current.
Thanks for replying. I'm sure you can understand the frustration we had. I was desperate to get to bed, but we thought we were almost finished.
turns out it wasn't a cave but a tunnel that lets out into the Frozen Traverse right next to where you need to build your medium fortified chalet.
tl:dr: there is no need to build over the wall or anything extravagant like that there is a tunnel into the oasis in L12
The South East desert can be accessed through the cave at L12 though you will have to build some ramps up the ice flows beginning at K10 and L10.
Ring Lake, North of the South East desert can be accessed via the cave at O9.
And the North West desert has two options at G3 or at C4.
I am certainly not claiming these as ideal, just pointing out that it is possible to hit those zones without doing the missions. I too would prefer that open world be fully open without needing to do the unlocks.
I liked how this game worked better closer to launch with the real world times, no open worlds and so on. I also realize that had Rocketwrkz stuck to their guns with that, it likely would have meant this game ceased progressing quite some time ago. So even though I liked it better back then, I have adopted a bit a "if you cant beat them, join them" attitude.
