This is not ARK, or Minecraft...
(bugs, customer support, and tech issues aside) Speaking strictly about the flow of the game. Once upon a time we played games as the developer intended. If it was good we played them twice. if it was not we didnt play through once. You didnt get to bully or cry the development into something it was never meant to be.

Im not trying to bust anyones chops but why do some insist on complaining about a game that does not play out like some other game they played? This isnt ARK, or minecraft... so why insist that it must become so? Why not just go play the other game? They are, after all, what you wanted this to be. So why go for second best?

Ill give it some things need to be improved, structure resistances, AI, tech tree logic and talent balances... but to bash the dev team until they feel they have to make a minecraft mode... dudes, just go play minecraft. it is okay. its a great game- but there will never be another like it.

If a developer is such weaksauce that it changes their vision(art) based off what a few people on a forum complain about then it’s not the complainers fault, it’s the weak non spine equipped developers. So stop blaming people for continuing to take a mile every time a weak developer gives an inch. They don’t need you defending them or maybe they do.

I have been defending the Icarus main theme too.

Yes.
Think about it.
A new game, Icarus, fun, with a different approach to the survival genre.

It may be that other survival games ,with large player bases, may feel threatened by Icarus.

Players, love to play games, some may get bored and may say,
"I want to try something different."

It may be that other survival games are "trying" to make Icarus the same as other survival games. They may have sent there little paid minions to sway the forums and the devs to change Icarus until they get...
"Why play that game, it's the same as this one. I may just stay here."

Don't worry though! :steamhappy:
I believe the Devs are on to this business tactic of, "Assimilation".

The gaming industry can be fun!:steamhappy:
Some gaming competitors may play a bit dirty, within the context of fun, to try to keep their player bases from migrating.

Thr game is under development. Its EA isnt it ?

Thats when feedback and opinions are asked for and given. And most ppl know that.

What/if a dev team changes is on them, not the players giving feedback. No1 is forcing the devs to change anything. If they choose to change direction based on anything thats still on them.

Nope it’s not early access it’s full release. However anyone with two brain cells knows this game was never and still isn’t a release quality game. It’s fun in the state it is in but to be a complete game even the basic stuff like coding needs work. But hey we all are experts haha

Yep, just because they didn't apply an early access label to the game doesn't mean it's not an alpha or beta version of the game. It's clearly nowhere near finished and given the number of major changes they've made so far, and what's on the "roadmap", I'd call it an early beta. Maybe they wanted to avoid the stigma that comes with calling a game early access.

I also agree that it is quite fun.

I have to agree with the OP. A lot of people are very entitled and basically try to push or bully developers and sometimes it works. Developers usually should stick to their vision (there are definitely cases where a vision is so flawed that they shouldn't... but this wasn't one of those cases), but I also understand why developers want to appeal to a wider audience and might feel pressured to make changes that even they don't really want so everyone will be happy. I was a bit disappointed that they modified the game so players could easily avoid the real world timer but so many people hated it that I also can't blame them for changing it. In the end you can't please all of the people all of the time and trying to do that might ruin an otherwise fantastic game concept.

My bad, with the way development has gone it screams EA to me lol

This is Dean Hall's deal so we all know hes the " idea guy " not really the finished content guy. anyhow my point still applies, if a team changes anything due to any preassure from the players its still on them.

People need to give their opinions no matter how whacky and far fetched they are. Even if they dont make it into THIS game that doesnt mean they wont be remembered and put in this or something else.

an opinion is just that, entitled or not. Its 1 or a few ppl's ideas. what any team does with them is up to the team.

Yes but I have a Right to give my feedback as someone with stock in the company. As a stock holder I expect to get things my way!!!!!
Oh wait that is not what we are buying here is it?? I forgot this is just a game that we bought. Sad so many thought they were getting controlling interest in the company.

kinda glows in here doesn't it, please don't criticize things I worked on enjoy, that isn't fair to company-senpai who will surely one day notice me (yes I know this isn't a sockpuppet, but take a minute to do a thought exercise on what a disgruntled dev's sockpuppet might post and we're on the same page again)

daily reminder that no man's sky only became playable because of honest feedback from players being analyzed and taken seriously by devs. let's try to avoid the "all feedback is entitled, except for my feedback which is different because I'm the one saying it" meme, yeah?

people are "bullying" and "crying" because issues have gone unaddressed forever. this tends to happen with games that have devs with "other priorities". generally speaking there are only a few core elements that communities manage to unify in annoyance over, one of which I'd say is optimization, another is lacking or unfinished core features. it -also- only happens in early access type games where the game releases incomplete, which leaves future features undefined, meaning customers aren't buying just the "now" version of the game, but buying in on where the game will be in a year or three.

we all see potential in the game I would imagine, most of us probably deeply enjoy the core idea of the game, but with it as hilariously unfinished and unpolished as is and with the devs devoting attention elsewhere, people are going to get hostile. not that this necessarily excuses it, but you can't sit down and deny the role of the developer in that relationship. optimally complaints and asks for change would be selfish and entitled, but fact is unless the game is released in a finished state, people are just asking for the rest of what they ordered.

Hmmm that isn't the main complaint that I see on this forum ... nor are we/us trying to bully the devs, and we aren't paid minions who are trying to destroy the game. In actuality Icarus needs optimization. All this talk about Minecraft has been giving me the itch to play it again.
