Getting Ren in the open world
OK, so if I read the notes correctly, if we're playing in the open world we can head back up to space and back as much as we like. So is there a way to earn Ren without doing missions? I presume if you mine exotics in the open world you can use those, but can you convert them to Ren or bring other stuff up to sell? If not, do you have to do missions to be able to buy equipment?

No exotics in the open world - per patch notes

They specifically stated in the patch notes that you have to do missions to get ren or exotics to buy workshop items.

In the middle of the post (linked below), they have a chart and it's clear you have to do missions for exotics:

For the moment no missions on open, but they said they will add it. Hope exotics too.

Ah, so unless you already have ren and Exotics then no point in returning to the station. Kind of begs the question of: why? Find a comfy corner of the map, setup base. Survival sorted.

everything cool is locked behind the missions from the workshop. open parts of the supposed open world isnt so open with pathways being blocked seperating you and locking you out of most of the map without doing the correct missions. yes if you dont do the correct missions you dont unlock parts of your open world. without missions no cool workshop items either. so youll end up with a walking simulator lol. even the missions mission tree is greyed out so you cant see what bthe next missions are also

The mission tree is locked, but it does not take too long to start working through the missions. Pretty soon you will have the early workshop tools, then overtime work up to the higher tier tools and armor. If you like to beat a game in a week or two this is probably not the right type of game for you. Personally the fact that this takes a while and offers a challenge helps to make this worth the cost to me. As you follow the mission tree you will naturally unlock the parts of the map. The missions are in a tree so that you don't jump to missions you are not ready for, they are scaled and start easy and work up. It all depends on what type of game you like, this type of survival game just might not be for you.

they should lock tech that needs exotics or is used for exotics if you can't do it in outpost or open world what would be the point? you waste tech tree
