BUG: Deep Miner Drill (biofuel version)
I posted this on the Icarus bug/suggestion boards and seeing as how this weeks update has to do with the Deep Mining system - it seems appropriate to take action on it now - please upvote this one.

https://icarus.featureupvote.com/suggestions/292704/bug-deep-mining-drill-biofuel-turns-off-when-character-logs-back-in

The Deep Miner that uses biofuel shuts off whenever we log out of the game - even if it has fuel to run - and requires that you visit it to turn it back on when you log back in.

This has to be a bug regarding saving it's "state."

Please upvote.

Ice borer (extracting frozen wood in Null Sector) has the same problem, it does not turn back on after load.

+1 tested and still happens.

Playing an Open world with friends at the moment, so each new toy we unlock, we need 3 times the materials.

We figured the bio-drill would help solve the issue, not in its' current state it seems.

I'm a single player also. I'm seeing this behavior (won't restart) on a drill I have set inside a cave on a salt node.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed. It hasn't happened to me, yet. However, my salt node is outside, just copper, gold, silica and iron in caves. Perhaps the resource type has something to do with it?

I don't think so. I have a bio drill on platinum a pretty good distance away from my base. Too far to reasonably run an electrical line. I know I could just put a windmill on it, but I digress. The point is, that bio drill further afield is doing it as well.

I have also tested whether it happens only on drills far away (to test if it's a chunk loading issue) and I've tested it on drills that I'm standing right next to when I shut the game down and restart. The behavior is the same and it is consistent.

The drills have not behaved like this for many months but started doing it in the past few weeks. Apparently there was a bug in early 2022 where this used to happen but it was corrected at some point and has since reappeared.

Ok. Thanks for the info, It's kinda off-putting, but I have electric now so not to bothered. Hopefully it gets sorted.

Build a solar panel, and an electric drill. Put them on a deep vein.

They keep running continuously (at least during the day). I just swing by them and empty them out every once in a while.

And before people say that takes forever to get that much resources, once you several deep veins, they start adding up super quick, and it gets quicker and quicker to make more of them.

I have three copper deep veins near my open world base, and 1 gold. I have an entire iron cupboard full of nothing but copper bars (already smelted). I'm not even bothered to exploit 2 of the 3 copper nodes.

I have iron, coal, and silica veins. Put together that means neverending concrete building parts.

+1
biofuel mining drill stops when logging off and on. seems the bug got re-introduced.
I'm playing as single player on Rev. 2.2.30.130308-SHIPPING-LAIKA (map is Olympus, node is of type copper).
