Wooden crates in a cave
I lost the 2 medium wooden crates filled with ingots placed at near the entrance of a T3 cave so it's fully sheltered. Only the floor torch between the boxes remained there. What the hell!
What I did is Return to Character Select, had lunch and resumed the prospect. If I remember correct, this is the second time I have faced the issue.
Is this very common issue? a bug??

after last patch started to see issues with containers not being able to be placed on ground, and weather effects being felt while 'indoors'. So its possible both of those may have impacted you. Normally - this is not much of an issue. Stuff you leave well inside a cave remains. I can only think of one cave were weather happened in cave before patch, its in riverlands section and is a t3 cave, you would know it since it has no worms and also no dampness debuff (and is lighted like outside).

if you put down a floor and try to put a sleeping bag or fire ring down and they wont go down or just tumble in UI, then that spot has a chance for stuff to just 'fall thru' geometry at some point.

Since patch - weather impacts in ways you might not be used to: if you leave a door open on a structure weather will damage you and items inside structure. Also, you can be damaged or killed by weather if you are too slow boarding your drop ship. Apparently storms can manifest INSIDE the drop ship after patch... lol

Until they get this fixed, campfires and firepits make great storage containers, no need for shelter. Animals can hit them, but usually only if you're standing behind one.

Campfires are also good to test an area before you start building to look for invisible walls.

My bed keeps going away somewhere?? Whilst inside of a wood base all closed up. When I died I had to trek all the way back to my base 😀

They do indeed. Instead of wasting time getting stuff for higher tiers I’m out getting stuff for my exotic mining set up :)

The cave was at K11. I wrote as 'near the entrance' but I took distance from there considering weather impacts.
I guess the weather impacts patch is not working well.

Usually I build my base outside. In the T3 cave far from my base, I usually use Antibiotic Pill and place some crates as temporary storage so I can stay in the cave for the whole time the pill are in effect.

Thanks! I will use campfires/firepits instead of wooden crates.

I have a stone bunker inside a cave, and my crop plots and random benches or wooden cupboards simply decide to disappear along with their contents of hundreds of ores; I don't even understand why I'm wasting time on this game...

I know it matters greatly if you leave a door or window open in your shelter. That way items do get damaged inside and it doesn't take much for a bedroll or wooden container to be destroyed. Maybe that is the issue in some cases?
