Pneumonia in caves
How do you get pneumonia in caves, considering you are not breathing the air in the first place(you are using oxygen inside your space suit)?

Hahaha... Never though about that! Maybe it mixes the oxite with the atmosphere of your current location?

OR, They forgot they made spacesuits during development ? :lunar2019laughingpig:

carrying that makes a lot more sense

Just like how you take slash and bleeding damage you have to bandage but your suit and armor never seem to need repair or lose integrity.

But frankly that is fine. Wouldn't want to deal with that on top of everything else, we spin our wheels enough.

Imagine going through a 2 min animation to get a drink of water? You would think all suits came with a water slot or minimal internal processing to absorb.

Really is a bad idea to bring real world logic into game play design though ha ha.

It feels like the game wasn't developed with having space suits in mind... And spacesuits are just badly slapped into the game to justify the need of oxygen...

It kinda makes me wonder how their sprint / planning meetings goes. I mean, what kind of tough process leads to having environment suits (they're not space suits btw) and still being infected with airborn diseases?

its an alien planet and the air is poison, thats the point of the suit,
and the getting cut without slicing the fabric stuff is real, i get cut at work all the time my gloves never rip but somehow im sliced underneath it doesn't make sense in game or outside of game lol.
maybe its some futuristic space age nanobot polymer mix that reseals itself when it gets damaged. same way you feed yourself without your body getting sucked out of your helmet lol. and it is just a game lol, same reason you dont ask how Arnold Schwarzenegger survived all those explosions , its just a movie

You can get “the cave cough”, yet you can breath underwater. 🤣

Survival games are like Milsims.. If you made them TRULY realistic you would
spend 90% of your time either walking around or sitting in the back of a vehicle
waiting.. No one would want to play that..

I have been relaying radio chat on a hill for almost an hour in a milsim game.....

And you can light fire from thin air with no matches.
You earn godlike bow skills by banging rocks and trees with stone tools.
You only get 4 steaks from a Buffalo.
Most deer have no fur.
You can carry a WHOLE house made of solid stone in your pocket.
You can make a gun in a cave starting with only sticks, leaves and rocks.
you can put 100 logs in a TIKI Floor lamp.

lol i think you technically use your oxygen underwater or at least you did i tested it weeks ago its like scuba gear. and like every single game with a torch lights in thin air. the animal furs does annoy me you can skin a rabbit on a bench for like 20 fur but a large deer may give you 1 or 2. I've just learned to go straight for predators for my fur. and those cave guns aren't like Heckler & Koch or Smith and Wessons they're like those russian youtube videos people making hand cannons out of garbage in their backyards lmao:laughing_yeti:

Well what do you expect from a dev team that thinks that inhaling stones / oxite gives you oxigen to breath
hazelrah Jan 5, 2022 @ 8:19am
it's a mechanic devs haphazardly stuck on to try to discourage living in caves, that's it. there is no "reason" within the game for it. attempts to explain it are just mental gymnastics to justify the devs decision to discourage a playstyle.

yeah the respawning worms are enough to stop my spelunking, i get tired of loading in dead because worms get me while im loading, and the electric dehumidifier doesn't stop the worms like it says it does. living in caves was so fun too. i just go stone house and keep it moving

Well 90% of missions is running around so I guess they got that right. Folks complain about that too so you're also right about nobody wanting to play that. And a solid chunk of the remainder is waiting around for crafting. Good times.

The problem with the "it's a game, stop thinking about anything" defense is that they take the time to try and explain the debuffs and do so in a way that contradicts what they say in their own lore. Complains about the fire starting, carrying capacity, bow skills, lack of suit punctures and such are rare because they don't try to explain any of that, it's just game stuff so no need to think about it. Usually those complaints only show up to illustrate that nothing makes sense and no one deserves better when a contradiction like pneumonia comes up.

With the cave debuff, it says you're breathing in dank, funky air and that'll get you pneumonia. The natural response to that is "Hey, didn't you say we were in an airtight suit? Ya make me find my own O2. How does that work?". If they left it at "You're in a cave, you have less stamina and it might stick with you. Purple meds can help." I doubt we'd get a fresh thread every few days about it. It'd be just game stuff, no need to think about it.

All they need to do is reskin it to get rid of the asinine contradictory explanation (no need to even replace it with a new explanation, just shut up and let it be magic game stuff) and this whole thing'll go away. Until then, we may as well get a bingo card going for this sort of thread, they're not going to stop. Frankly, they shouldn't.
