My thoughts on Titanium
For the amount of time it takes to smelt 40 bars of Titanium to make a Hunting Rifle, the bears are extremely likely to die of old age and it won't be necessary. Just sayin... :steammocking:

Absolutely. I always go for the Bolt Rifle when I need a gun and just stay in T3. You can get there very quickly and the single shot serves most needs. However, I'm bored and I'm just tinkering around in Spirit Walk and decided to make a Hunting Rifle. I've watched the grass grow 3 inches out back in the first 20 bars of Titanium. =P

I feel the only good side of hunting rifle is 6 rounds mag lol. Other than that, I find no reason to use one after spending 100+ hours on the game.

TBH i just use a recurve bow and use basic flint arrows for basic ammo and craft the high end arrows to take out big things. For general use it just seems far far more practical in terms of resources

4 furnace = 1/4 of the time of smelthing xy amount of titanium
compared to 1 furnace. Crazy right?! Thank me later.

lol, at least they'll be slower and won't dodge so much :-P

I don't speed play the game so no big deal I still use the Stone Furnace for Iron and Copper then just put the rest in the Concrete one.. When it is done it is done.. while it is melting I make and gather the rest of the stuff I will need or want. Person I drop with most prefers teh Re-curve so we do that and I will carry both rifles.. Bolt action always first if at anything but close range.. then swap weapons and drop back into Stealth with Hunting,.. gets you if needed 7 fast shots for when you miss:) Make Alum arrows for the Bow.. Only use rifle for Bears anyway unless I get charged and snap shot a wolf or Boar

Same here, I'm a bow guy. I love using the bow and the Recurve is the sweet spot where it doesn't take too much effort to get to it if you're going to be on planet for a bit. I rarely craft guns. I did craft the Bolt Rifle when I had to kill a lot of polar bears and I think that was it. I did craft guns several times in beta but felt the bow was plenty strong enough for 95% of the mission requirements.

Definitely. If I was looking to speed my way towards something I would have used some techniques to make it faster. I'm just messing around at this point, waiting for new missions. It was just an observation on how looooooooong it was for Titanium to smelt. Gives the biofuel container a run for it's money. lol

Agreed.

Yeah, you would think that needing a lot of it, it needing the elec. furnace, that needs the bio-powerplant, and wire, and composter, and canisters would be enough grind.
No, it also has to be painfully slow smelting as well…

Dont had any problem with titanium, is plenty most of the time

Titanium is as bad as platinum for smelting and the amount of ore required for a single bar is double of any other ore i have no idea why the devs thought it was a good idea to make titanium and platinum takes so long to smelt and use so much ore for each bar
Ziipher Jan 5, 2022 @ 7:55am
Two concrete furnaces placed in caves, clear them out in ten minutes....

Doesnt take much to get them, Same with Stone furnances, two to start. When working with concrete furnaces, grab the higher tier ore first as it takes the longest to smelt. While thats smelting, grab the iron, alum, copper thats left.

Soon as you hit steel pick axe, immediately target platnium and get the plat mining pickaxe as well as the wood pickaxe. Mine faster, with increased returns.

I get the hunting rifle pretty quickly, though anything else in the T4 i steer clear of as the prices are extreme.

i always just make the single shot rifle and use titanium for tools. like ziipher said i usually always make multiple furnaces to smelt each ore individually then ill split ore between them when i need more of a certain one

Smelt time is ludicrous. Our group of four is down to two - I can't imagine trying to find and smelt enough for four hunting rifles. I doubt it's possible to find that much ore on any map, and at 1:38 per ingot smelt, I fully expect to die in rl waiting for the 160 ingots needed.

THAT'S.
OVER.
FOUR.
REAL.
LIFE.
HOURS.
