Its extremly cheap, 1 iron ingot, 1 gunpowder. Iron is the most common metal, after reaching middle of t3, you dont't need it anymore expect for ammo, while copper is needed for electronics in vast ammounts.
For example, 6 iron ore and 1 coal to make steel bloom, that makes one steel, or 3 iron ingots to 1 steel. The real life ratio is closer to 2:1 (less than that, even).
The simply insane amount of electronics for anything in the higher tiers make them rather prohibitive unless you have several days off work to litterally play all day and farm materials.
