What we need in this game is a water bottle to hold drinking water as i don't think there is one in the game as water runs out too quickly also what would be nice is to be able to dig your own water hole near your base that fills up with water and to be able to plant berry bushes

There is a Waterskin in the game you can learn on Tier 2 along with a Rain Reservoir to capture rain water also Tier 2. A Canteen becomes available at Tier 3.

The Tier2 Waterskin is easy to craft quickly. After that, I don't recommend the Canteen and the Thermo, they are expansive (Steel).

Instead I recommend the Tier3 Glass Jar (Glassworking Bench), cheaper resource wise. It can hold a lot of water and can be equiped in the Water Slot of the Suit. You can then craft some Berry Jam using that Jar, which is also easy and a great Food. :)

Once have brought money buy the canteen from the workshop and never worry about water again... At least for a long time.

Just use the normal glas jar which you can use to make some berrie juice, fill it with water and its even good. you can drink allot with 1 jar.

Steel is cheap.... Once you have a Concrete furnace

The metal ones(Tier 2 or 3?) are my go-to. No losses of water or oxygen that I can tell. They require the smelting of steel, however.

If you're new, and sounds like you are, one of those green sponges you find underwater will store a small amount of water for a short time. Don't wait until you're thirsty, drink as soon as your water level starts dropping and it will give you a little more time.

Unfortunately the waterskin leaks, so it is not very good for long term water storage. The workshop canteen is well worth the investment. I do believe the workshop canteen and air bottle should come full. Seriously, I am going to drop out of the space station with an empty canteen? Oh right, water born illnesses are such a blast, who ever heard of someone dying from dysentery? And the air tank? Do scuba divers wait until they are 60 feet underwater to fill their air tanks? It's just dumb. The thermos at least can be used to make tea or coffee... assuming you can find 50 bushes to harvest, who came up with that recipe??? Not to mention that a thermos requires 36 iron ingots, almost as much as an anvil. Then again an arrow head also takes an iron ingot.... All just more examples of how poorly they considered some of these resource requirements.

It's why I recommended to craft the Glass Jar instead. It's a great Water Canteen for only 1 Iron Ingot and 1 Glass.

Then you can craft some Berry Jam, its recipe is easy to gather, and it gives +125 Stamina, -20% Water Consumption and +10% Shared XP. You can forget the Thermo, I never gathered enough for even 1 recipe, and I'm the Recon/Hunter/Pharmacist.

That Kitchen Bench allows you to Craft the Antibiotic Pill too, which protects you during 10 minutes from the Cave Red Debuff giving you Pneumonia, and the Anti-poison Pill which during 10 minutes too cancel any Poison Dot.
