Or you could stop carrying your torch inside? Why change the way the game was made when you can adjust your side to suit. I wouldn't take a flaming stick inside my house, especially not if it was made of wood/thatch.
Inadvertantly setting fire to various things is half the value of the game. Everything from your base to the forest to your buddy.

this is some of the funniest stuff i have heard. use a campfire or something else like that for a source of light. or even the wall torch. pro tip stone buildings dont burn as easy
They have substantially turned down fire spread and damage since I started playing.
