Glass walls and roof are absolutely useless!!!
I spent a whole tone of time getting everything to make glass for walls, roof and windows to brighten up the stone cabin we have. So I have a couple glass roof panels and the glass back wall overlooking the lake....Its beautiful! So I settle in and wait for a thunder storm to come so I can watch it in safety in all its glory. It was all a mistake ....the glass was breaking all over the place! It was a waste of points and material and a lot of time. It needs to be fixed or taken out of the game. The glass roof and walls shattered as soon as the wind started...useless!

Yeah sadly glass sucks. Would have loved to use it too since i loved using it in ARK.
If you still want to use glass walls just add an overhang over the glass facade. That will protect it and you can still see outside.

Thanks Enforcer was wondering about that....Time to build a rap around deck lol but the roof glass has got to go!

If the glass structures came with exterior shutters, they might have been worth something.

I just did some research on window structural integrity. Turns out, irl, the most basic residential windows have a Design Pressure rating of 15 which means it is expected to withstand up to 15 pounds of pressure for every square foot of its surface before it breaks. Apparently, DP ratings go up to at least 50.

Seeing as how the glass building pieces have metal grids to reinforce them and divide them into small sections, this must be some extremely low quality glass we are building with in the game. If not, the enviro suits also keep us from being blown over by winds exceeding 80mph which apparently happen in the strongest storms.

Design choices in this game be like, "Because I say so."

either the game devs are all children that cant do normal thinking or they are babies that do not think at all there is no higher brain function when it comes to what weather effects will do what these are beta bugs was not done well for instance my game i left base to go get iron and come back to all tables inside my base wrecked with just a little wind not even raining but long enough to break all my tables in my base while in shelter protected by walls and roof but everything broken so now i cant leave tables down if i leave and come back tables are broken even in caves left starter base in cave come back and its all just bags of loot

its like they hate the building part in the game and do not want you to build anything.
or they love torturing people and waiting their time....

Since there's so much stuff to build, they must have at least one dissenter on the team-- who is loosing the fight.

Yes I think the entire building system needs another pass. Ive put a few points into concrete but nothing else and I never make it. A concrete wall with steel rebar standing up less to a bear attack than a thin stone and mortar wall? Stupid. Theres a reason why castles that used that building technique were several feet thick.

The awning did work but its a lot of building just to protect a glass wall . However the glass ceiling is now gone and replaced with stone. I have 2 sky lights in my home that I don't have to run around with a repair hammer to fix them when we have a storm! The devs have some more work to do for sure!

As someone who has been building greenhouses for weeks and doing testing; I ditched my old character and made a new one in about two days because Light currently doesnt affect crops, making the concept of a greenhouse entierly pointless until this is fully implimented.

The actual reason I rolled a new character however is the SOUND the glass makes in a storm. Even when its 20 dura and techncially broken in a wind storm, it keeps making the looped sound of glass shattering.

Until its either toned down or doesnt happen as often, I'd rather sit in my pitch dark craft hut and crouch over my crop plots.

PS; the talent to prevent crop spoilage requires you to craft a brand new crop plot. If your still using the old ones when you put the point in to the skill, it wont count and crops will continue to spoil. It affects the object itself, not the player.

This game has allot of things which are useless. 1. Thatch, 2. Wood, 3. Glass. All that will get destroyed by weather. Even stone will get destroyed in snow biomes. Bandages heal your wounds but the higher tier bandages which heal your deep wounds does not heal your normal wounds? I started to build a base inside a base to have a better protection. Means, I love wood, Glass so I started building a stone / concrete base and inside I made a smaller wood or glass base. Also never forget to use beams on your base to stabilize it.

But for the best protection, build outisde stone because it has the most durability and inside concrete so you will have less issues with cold, hot temperatures but when you are in the room where your oven is then its gona be hot. Sadly, glass structures are more than useless in this game.

I've been trying to build stone overhangs on my roof and I can get one side of sloping roof done but not the other. When i use to flip the piece it is a full half piece off set in the middle of the air. I tried the other options under "r" and the initial piece that works is half ramp left... i can't seem to find right.. Any help.. this is an example of the offset https://imgur.com/a/BvOAZBk
