Can animals see through walls?

So I'm in my cabin making some hot tea all of the sudden a hyena starts breaking through my cabin. Then hes stuck in there and when I repawn he kills me again and I start waaaaay back next to my pod. Ffs

They can't see through walls, but they can hear the noise you make (the 5 bars down the bottom) and they can smell blood/damaged players and stuff cooking.

Once they destroy the walls, then they can see you.

Short answer: no, but they can sense through walls. If they hear you or they smell you cooking meat they'll stop at nothing to get in.

I was cooking in the arctic and a polar bear just casually walked by several times.

ALSO do animals attack each other? I've asked this on a thread and one guy was like yes they attack each other and also eat your kills. I NEVER see them attack anything other than me.

Never ever seen a body or bones a player did not make. Haven't seen any animals chase or attack eachother. Sometimes certain animals(dumbo) will randomly attack oxite deposits, but thats about it.

(edit) in fact most animals will happily gang up on you, bears+wolves, lions+hyenas+dumbo(elephants)

Yeah cougars, a lot of the animals are named oddly imo, like the elk sized 'deer' and whatnot.

they can smell you, hear you and sense ground vibrations I assume, maybe they have evolved other sense as well we don't know about. such as thermal sensing (like some reptiles)

They have at least fixed the desert AI that used to exist, every animal doesnt attack you any more for poking an elephant, lol.

I have also recently realized that the animals attack mounts when you own them so yes, the ai does attack other animals, not just you. I've used my mounts as bait by strategically placing them in critical areas, its cool.

Build wood fortification walls, and spikes. Never worry about it again. Just go out and clean the carcasses out before they attract more, repair the wall, done.
