Having Bear problems? Here's how you kill em
For those of you still having problems with BEARS and POLAR BEARSin general, here you kill them easily if you are having trouble, they are easy and takes a bit of practice. Third person is recommended when killing these animals because first person is not reliable and you will most likely get hit, Polar bears will kill you in 2 hits, NO BOW STATS UPGRADE needed and no cheesing needed to kill them

This is how you can solo and kill them, most of this is done with a long bow and bone arrows with speed module you can buy from the workshop to throw in your suit for a bit faster movement, The regular bears just require you to dance past em while the polar bears require you to FLICK YOUR WRIST when you make a turn on em, its all timing and technique.

*updated with polar bear sequel*

is it bad, i just murder them with the bolt action rifle? 3 headshots and i drop them before they can touch me XD is not too grindy for me to make, and the ammo is really abundant if you have the right things unlocked

But this vid is cool to know Especially since the recurve bow is my main hunting weapon.
with bone arrows. I just have guns on me in the case of "OH ♥♥♥♥" moments.

Okay, so climbing onto a large rock to avoid a predator and gaining a height advantage is cheesing. Building fortifications for defense when you know a monster is coming is cheesing. Developing actual skills and maneuvering in mono a mono combat against a dangerous opponent is also cheesing.

Now I want the people who constantly say this stuff to tell me what would not be "cheesing"? You want some one shot weapon and invincible armor? you want to one on one wrestle a BEAR to the death? The game needs to be "balanced" until your play-style or perks are supreme?

This is a survival game, and developing strategies to survive, learning to be prepared, to be aware of your surrounding, to learn from your mistakes, and yes, to come up with actual skill based attack patterns are what you should be doing. However you decide to do it.
Polar Bears are stupid OP, you have to cheese them in some way or form.

And even normal Bears and Wolfs, they are not OP strenght wise, but can do impossible stuff like climb vertical cliffs, spot you in an closed building, chew trough stone and concrete...

So first they need to fix and balance the game, then we can talk about what is cheesing and what not.
I accidentally happened upon the run TOWARD the bear strategy when I ran past an attacking bear and it completely missed me. I was like... wait... is it that easy? They will obviously fix this. There is no way Dean is going to let us survive bear attacks for long!
Ive gotten good at the matador, its always the wolves and boars that join in that messes up the day. So be wary when you start to tango that you get a clean place to do it and youll be fine!
I mean even with this strategy, it only works if you have a weapon but say you die and you don't have a weapon or anything in your hands, the only chance in hell you have is to run.

Climbing onto a rock isnt cheesing. Climbing into a spot a mob cant get to you is cheesing. (just pointing out the differences imo, not stating what you are trying to infer)

building a base that you cant be damaged inside..yes thats cheesing. Please tell me how creating a structure that renders your completely safe isnt cheesing? We all do it, but its cheese.

WHat do I want...ummmm how about more than one ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ attack? These mobs are so stupid its going to be a powderpuff game in weeks, worse than it already is.

Why cant the bears have multiple attacks, which I have to recognize and utilize multiple counters to?

Thats called gameplay, meat shield mobs that kill in 2 hits isnt. Its called sadness.

What does it take to craft a stone knife?

yeah but if you are in the frozen zone looking for a rock can be looking for a needle in a haystack and you got wolves all over, especially if you built a bed in a cave lol i made that mistake.

I mean, dodging their broken attack animation is literally cheesing :D

negative, the bear has a swipe attack thats wide and leaves themselves wide open, when I saw the attack I saw the feint and the dodges you can make and saw the hit boxes from the bears. That's like saying rolling from bosses in dark souls is cheesing.

Also polar bear is pretty precise, I made a mistep on 2 of em today and got mauled to death in 2 shots.
Nope. It is a charge attack with broken player tracking(the AI can't track the player properly once the attack animation is started due a bug). It was confirmed on discord.

They told us that it will be fixed, but they have other issues with bigger priority on the list currently. Bears are the apex predators in the current chapter, fighting them should be hard and challenging(unless you have a rifle).

well for now it works, so basically what they are saying is to fight polar bears you'll just have to build ramps on cliff and shoot at em which is just as easy
got it.

I don't see how dodging can't be a real mechanic to fighting em instead of just cheesing or getting rifles or even beign forced down the combat tree because you are so limited on talents

it's even easier than that. Make a crawl space in a rock. Shoot bear from it. Bear dies.
Sneak does work if you don't move at all while they're close. I've had them walk right up to me and not aggro before they decide I'm not interesting and leave. But if you move an inch while they're still watching they will be on you.

That takes longer than killing them, but if you don't have your gear, it's an option, as long as there are no wolves nearby because they won't ignore you.

Thank you. That is the only constructive criticism of this that I have heard. You want more variety in the enemies attacks, so you have to learn and adapt with other patterns. Probably not too necessary in a standard animal, but certainly a good idea for any boss monster. The bears do have different behaviors depending on your actions, but in the case of the tactic being discussed, you do catch them in a bit of a loop.
Yeah this ♥♥♥♥ never works when I do it, so not sure what to do about that. And the bear's damage arc seems to also include behind the bear for some reason. If I'm so much as a foot around the bear, he can hit me no matter which direction I am from him.
