I haven't noticed any.

Are you playing solo or with someone else? You hosting or them?

playing solo, my best way to explain it is that it feels like internet lag but its not. Ill be running or closing doors or killing an animal then the sound will happen a few seconds after

I tried changing my audio format on my headphones so maybe that'll help

So did changing audio format fix it for you?

This game uses Unreal. I've had issues with Logitech headsets and the unreal engine where the headset causes massive lag in the game. I have no idea what causes this. Also it does not happen in every Unreal game so perhaps it is some codec that certain games use that various audio drivers do not work well with.

But you aren't crazy. I've seen this kind of thing before. The solution was to play with speakers instead of headset. You can try to change the sample rate from 48100 to 44100 or perhaps lower. Below those numbers starts to get into awful audio quality territory.

Another thing you can do is play the game without your headset enabled and without speakers. If the game runs fine then it is the same issue I've seen in various other Unreal games.

I'm suffering from the same issue, just got a short sample vid done on YT showing how it is.

Not even 2min long but has all audio-delays I've ever suffered apart from the delays from water splashes, fall impact injury, doors opening/closing, and machines being used.
The issue is on both DX11 and DX12, and no matter how i change the in-game audio settings nothing fixes or even changes it. I have also tried several audio system settings and on both Headset and Speakers, but no luck there either.

It may not be an audio setting. From your video it seems like a loading delay - since the initial shot is delayed but subsequent shots are on time. Speculating here, but that seems like you may have some overly aggressive memory manager setting working in the background saying "Hey, we haven't used this bit of memory in a while, let's move it from system memory (physical RAM) to virtual memory (physical HDD) to save space for other stuff that may need memory!"

Or maybe Windows memory compression is turned on and the delay is taking that data and decompressing it before sending it to your audio drivers.

Not sure where you'd adjust those settings. It could be you're short on RAM as well? Too many background programs running demanding pieces of RAM so the game's RAM has to be juggled more?

Somethings you can try - open up Task Manager and head to the performance tab to look at your memory. This can tell you if you have memory compression turned on (In Use value), and that's a rabbit hole you can wander down after you confirm it.

For being short on ram you can shut down basically all background programs and confirm in Task Manager that you're getting your memory freed up.

Another thing to optimize virtual memory is to turn system administered virtual memory size off and set a static value. 32gb or twice your RAM should be plenty for all applications. Then there will never be a background process of the system resizing your virtual memory as you're trying to use it. Of course it helps to have a fast SSD for your virtual memory and having plenty of free space on it.
