You'll need a steel pick axe. So prepare to grind up a machining bench -> concrete mixer -> concrete furnace. Takes a lot of iron.

If you buy the higher level workshop pickaxes, they count as "steel". Any pickaxe above the MCX one.

You no longer need a concrete furnace for steel ingots.

They're probably thinking of smelting the titanium ore. Most recipes need the ingots, so you can get the ore without a concrete furnace, but won't be able to do much with it.
