Dead Asus ROG Strix 3080 after 3 hours playtime

I hope this is a isolated incident but I just had my 3080 die after 3 hours in game.
Is there anyone on here from rocketwerkz I can reach out to with the details?

My 3080TI died.

MSI Gaming Trio X, less than 6 weeks old. I used nothing other than recommended settings, except for turning DLSS off.

Have the same card 12 gig which I think is the same one. This scares me.

Games are not the reason for graphics cards burning out. The cards burning out are faulty on behalf of the manufacturer due to trying meet the overwhelming demand for them and not meeting quality control specs. The other possibility is a knock off graphics card that has been sold for less than it's true value.

I have played all 7 beta weekends of Icarus and play New World, have a RTX 3060, no issues.

99.99% of the time its not the games faults for being badly optimized. Usually its the poor workmanship on the card quality itself. Only thing that can stress your card more that will make the issue worse is the fluxuating frame rate. Otherwise there is no way for game to completely fry your card.

100+ hrs in beta with a 3080TI ventus 3x and honestly, I get more coil whine and temp spikes from BF2042 and AOE4 than this. avg at 100 fps on max settings, 1440p. To OP, are you running monitor systems? Do you limit your in game FPS? Limiting the FPS is very important with high end GPUs. almost burned mine playing bannerlord 2 cuz menus would run over 1000 FPS.

it doesn't matter, games are not supposed to kill GPUs

Pretty big assumption there. I do not crank everything to max. Only certain things and my fps is set to 120. It did not brick my card, but it sure worries me if there is an issue.

Games shouldn't be able to fry GPUs even if it is running at 100%. If the GPU fries itself under any load then that's an issue with the hardware not software

Aight, thanks for clearing it up. Prolly gonna buy it a day later when the servers come back up. Can you vouch for the settings you're running? Like high, 60fps, rtx, with dlss? How does the 3060 perform with this game?

My guess, it over heated from some a poor thermal paste job. Back in the day, I switched out some air coolers for liquid coolers on some Asus GTX 780's and I couldn't believe the poor thermal paste job they did.
