Stone Structures now taking weather damage
I have noticed since this recent update that stone structures take weather damage. Previously I only saw stone taking weather damage when I was in the arctic. I'm wondering if this is intended or a bug.

My guess is it was a stealth nerf because absolutely nobody ever used concrete except for that situation ever. its just another level of grind they add if you plan to loiter.

It could be that you play a certain prospect. In some stone always took damage, in most it does not. Not very consistent, but just within the general spirit of this game.

it better be a bug cos ill tell you this much, if i have to go all the way to concrete just to stop a house taking damage ill quit this game .. its too much

I have been quite ok with most updates, but if this is true, then I kinda see myself drifting away from this game,

I personally just setup in caves and only use bases near objectives or mining exotics, but I like the option to make a base that isnt made of paper.

I was doing one of the new worm ones which takes place in the forest biome. It has standard rain and lightning storms. Its a 2 skull mission in a generally non aggressive environment. My stone structure was taking 20-60 damage per impulse. I will try to load a starting missions once and see. But stone was the standard to build in all but the super tough missions.

Storms always damaged concrete in the Voyager mission, perhaps the lore is that the storms are getting worse again as you progress through the mission/quest line. If you recall one of the early missions was to create a device to fix the weather which went crazy and was preventing exploration..

Very true. The only way to tell is to do an old mission and see if it’s damaging stone. If it is it’s either an as intended change to stone and if it doesn’t then it’s like you say mission specific.

its possible this is correct , i have another claim with a separate charachter and that one doesent appear to have the same thing happening but if thats true all it means is im just going to avoid doing those missions. im not repairing after every storm.

the stone building takes about 60hp dmg in a med rainstorm on hardcore so its not that big of a deal
OMG light rain and my house fell apart .... so silly. I hate when it rains at my house where I have to stand by my TV all night long to hit the ceiling with a hammer when the rain comes through. What kind of wood are the houses made from anyway that the roof caves in because a tiny bit of rain. So silly.

My stone building was hit with tornados and storms again and again but did not see any damage. However i had one of my crafting stations catch fire again and again, and reason was that the fireplace set it on fire.
I cannot remember the name of the mission but im level 16 and i visited the space station 3 times so im still in the start of the "missioN tree" maybe that is why i did not take damage.
I also did not experience any lightning storm with the stone building only rain, tornado and strong winds.
Actual the stone buiilding is quite nice.. I build it on top of a rock foundation and when the wolf or bear attack and damage the wall i can shoot though the wall and hit them outside without risking to get injured my self.

I had damage on the latest mission "unearthed research". Better not be across the board, this game has got boring enough without having to repair stone buildings.

I don't find an issue with Stone taking weather damage, to be honest. IIRC Stone has some resistance to it, but also of note Stone actually has higher durability than Concrete at my last looking, of 2500 vs 2000. So if it takes storm damage, you also have more health to let it soak before a single repair whack fixes it. That's one of the benefits of stone, is it's that resilient, but going up to Concrete means you shed weather damage. So it's the tradeoff.
