Best place to position your lighting rod?
Top of your house, next to your house, many around the house? Can you explain the do's and don'ts of lighting rods.

Don’t use a lightning rod, it’s a waste of time, resources. Stack poles up on your roof and they will take the hit.

Build out of stone, and you won't need a lightning rod. I consider wood buildings disposable, and pretty much only use them in the first 20 minutes of a mission.

I would build stone as soon as you can. I stack multiple wood poles high and some horizontal from the top one. It will usually always take a hit before my wood building does.

when you start a mission you usually have several in game days before lightning storms... if your quick and not dilly dallying around you can get a stone structure up before the first electrical storm. At the least you can replace the roof with stone then your much safer. so long as you clear everything around the structure that might catch fire and spread to the rest of your wood structure if you only have the stone roof so far.
just gotta build your anvil, then craft nails so you can craft the masonry bench, then craft nails for the stone structures and your good... Then start crafting all the other crap... but your goal should always be to get a masonry bench up as fast as possible so you dont have to babysit your house all the time.

WELLLLLLLLLLLLLL as of now of playing this game the lighting rod can take 4 hits from lighting and you can repair it by smacking it with any hammer SOOO ITS KINDA CRAZY NOW

Lightning damages stone roofs, at least on styx. havent tried on prometheus, i assume yes...

Always have 1-2 near your house. easier to repair rods then have to climb on the roof to fix that 200 damage per storm.

I've never bothered to use a lightning rod. Even in the middle of a lightning storm, the roof hardly takes any damage from the direct strikes. It just takes damage from the storm itself, if even that.
