How to get more meat?

Doing the agriculture supply drop mission. I have the crops done, and have been using the skinning bench to get all of the leather and fur. Still need 450 meat though...Anything that gets more meat? Skinning bench seems to get more leather and fur considerably, but still only three meat. Thanks.

higher tier knife is better than skinning bench, setup beside a river or lake, if the spawns slow down rehost.

I found that if I hunt for meat while I'm doing my crops you can finish both together. The Pod allows you to store your meat in it and it wont rot. You just have to pull the meat out before you finish the crops mission!!! There are more animals on the crop side too.

While waiting for my crops to grow I did one trip to the meat pod with half the meat needed for mission and most the fur and leather needed. I got back to my crops in half a day trip. Then when I finished my crops I had more than enough meat to run to the other pod. Both missions done while just doing the crops and hunting around crops.

To answer your post. I found if you want more meat, skin the animal with a knife when you kill it. If you want everything else use the skinning bench.

it's worthwhile just storing animals in the skinning bench without skinning them (they don't decay) and then harvest them in bulk (works well if you have no icebox or fridge) Other than that, you could try building an elevated "blind" near the lake, shoot a few animals and leave them on the ground until they attract predators, kill a few and harvest them and rinse + repeat.

Hunt Boar. They give the most meat. Skinning bench is more for fur/leather. Better the knife, better the yield.

Should have thought of that for meat while I was doing the crops. I had enough fur and leather, but it went up with the pod. Luckily that wasn't hard to replace. I have eight days to finish up the last 450 of meat, so hopefully I can make that happen. I'll go look for iron to make an iron knife first and then hang out by the water as suggested. I built my second base right by the second pod, and all I get up there in the woods is deer and goats and wolves. No bears and no boars. Maybe I'll see those down by the water too.

Seems as though if I pick up a body, it doesn't attract anything when I place it again. Seems like it only attracts after kill and before moving. Can anyone confirm that?

pretty sure it's the smell of blood that first attracts the predators, then after a bit the smell of carrion.

hunting spec + steel knife. Otherwise, a skinning bench, a fridge, and set up by the southern lakes where you can hunt boar.

Agri supply is ideal for a Cooking + Hunting specialized duo. Otherwise, it's going to be slow depending on what you spend your time on. Neither are hard, just time consuming if you're off spec.
