"Potbelly Stove: A wrought iron stove for heating"
But you can't activate it without crafting anything? How can you use it for heating?

Its completely broke. I honestly think the devs had interns write descriptions of items with complete autonomy. haha

Imagine playing this in German, where
Pistol Round = Pistolenmunition, and
Rifle Round = Pistolenmunition.
You wouldn't wonder if your stove was for heating only, or vice versa :)

They also have a very unique understanding of what ALL means.

The Furnace that "fills ALL your smelting needs" smelts only iron and copper ore.
The Campfire that burns "under ALL conditions", extinguishes in most weathers.

Looking at thumbnail of cooking station, and description of potbelly stove, you can guess what happened there.

Looks like cooking station was supposed to do hot and cold dishes, and probably stove was meant for heating only.
Then they switched it around to cooking station does only cold, and potbelly can only do some very limited hot dishes. (IMHO, it should be able to do same as campfire as well, and also be faster at it, and i really don't get why you can't "turn it on" like other fires for sleeping/heating).
Probably because they realized there is not really any need for advanced heating.
(Only during heavy snowstorm it gets cold, but just building 2nd campfire is way easier than potbelly stove...)
So the one would be quite useless, while the other would be very good for many different food buffs.

But then nobody ever cared to adjust thumbnail and description of the two.

Also really dumb how the exhoust pipe of potbelly stove works. it should be taller and able to clip trough (flat or angled) roof, or lower and have a bend on top that sticks out trough wall behind.
Having it just high enough to not fit one flloor, but so short it ends inside under an angled roof/2floors, and not clipping trough anything, is really the dumbest possible way to do it.

Guess they have to fix that when they add smoke mechanic.

So obvious that it was a rush job with zero thought/love given.

Just saw this:
Materials for manufacturing:
30 Refined Wood
8 Iron Ingot
20 Epoxy
20 Copper Nail

This wrong in Wiki, or they really changed it to that ?
Pretty sure i crafted one at some point, but i don't remember making refined wood ever.
30 Refined wood and 20 Epoxy is really stupid for what it is/does.

the only real upside to the potbelly stove is how light it is.
Craft it, carry it to a fish filled lake while gathering meat and soybeans, then make curry like no tomorrrow.

So my theory is that the descriptions are like advertisements from the company that made the item (at least for the workshop items). So of course evil mega-company over-sells the uses of it's products. Basically false advertising from that company. I think they could do a better job of indicating that the text is advertisement instead of flavor text.

Otherwise, fixing descriptions to actually be correct would be like literally the easiest thing for devs to do. Just update some text to not outright lie about items. I'm sure the devs wouldn't be actively not doing something that's this obvious?

False advertisement lol

why... would... a potbelly stove... be light???

Those things are massive monstrously heavy things in real life.

We have a great team onsite who write all our copy (not interns, although I bet if we had some they'd be fantastic) but we do have the odd thing slip through the cracks so let us get to it! Might need some tweaking to make some more sense!

Another one is a "Lever action Semi-automatic rifle... You can't have a lever action and a semi-automatic at the same time LOL.. It's a "Lever Action Rifle". If it was a "Semi-Automatic" rifle, you wouldn't need the Lever Action.
