Transportation
Is there anything in the plans for other modes of transportation? Teleports or taming and riding animals? The running all over the map gets a bit grindy.

My vote goes to Buffalo mounts.

Yeah why not or could have fast travel as well between bed rolls?

If you watch the behind the scenes video of the development they had vehicles in just about all of the videos. So at least at one point they had thought about it. While I think it would be nice, I'd be ok with the walking / running. I think vehicles would unbalance things too much. Maybe an electric bike or something would be ok as long as you can't pile it down with cargo

Yes.
Interesting is that most of missions seem intentionally designed* in a way that you have to travel over long distances for multiple times.
As if there where any transport other than run, but there aren't.

Curious if they did this on purpose, cause there where supposed to be alternative travel methodes, and they did not adapt missions again after transport was scrapped ?
Or if it is just ill-considered mission design ?
Or they want it to feel like crosscountry running simulator 22 ?

Who knows.

*Things like telling you mission goal only after you once traveled empty to first POI.
Making you alway go back to your pod.
Missions that lead further and further from pod, and end at farthest point, versus going in circle or triangle where mission ends closer to start/pod.
(Circle/triangle also has advantage that you don't cros same area twice)

Here is something no one is thinking about in this thread, storms, predators, their danger. If there were vehicles added then storms mid to late game after you have these become a lot less of a threat. As it is later in the game traveling through them can get easier but they are still there. Then look at predators what danger are they if you are riding around in a vehicle?

I will admit the running around got old for me too but I found ways around it for the most part. Though granted I did not get even half way through the game before I just got tired of the timers.

Timers in SP just sucks because some stay with SP because they do not have the time to devote to a game. In my case when I get a little bored with Icarus I have to keep pushing through because of the timer or loose progress. This is of course a whole other issue but it is to most a more important issue then transport. Also at the very least perhaps a horse should be added rather than motor transports. Another great idea would be electric vehicles that stop running in select storms and can be severely slowed in high wind storms.

Anyone that has played something like 7 Days to Die understands that after you have vehicles in a survival game the "Survival" part of the game is dead. From there surviving is too easy because the dangers that were there are neutralized. So Icarus needs to rise above that and with the Repec mechanic also implement transport smart.

Sure, maybe sometime after the game comes out of Early Access and they pop out one of their planned paid DLC's,

there are pod spawn grenades now

And mounts :) If we're bringing threads back from the dead anyway.

Unfortunately, mission design is still really bad. So are the mounts.

Mounts are fine and are getting expanded. However, there lack an option for those that want more tech orientated transportation

Maybe if you have the talents for it. I can run faster than most of the mounts and for some reason they tend to get stuck in the slightest cracks. If you fall into a river it's nearly impossible to get up.

So I just equip my trusty old firewhacker and run. I can cover much longer distances on feet than on a mount (tried both horsey and birdy).

The Moa is my go-to mount. It is sooooo much faster, and if you give it the special tame feed it has great stamina. Never go long distance without it.
I always carry 5-6 wooden Wood Roofs https://icarus.fandom.com/wiki/Wood_Roof
For example, if you suddenly need to climb somewhere or need to put it under a mount if it has fallen somewhere and cannot get out on its own.

So do I. But having to dismount and place a ramp really slows you down. It's faster to just ditch the mount and run. Under good circumstances I can get over 600 runspeed and jump very long distances. I can get from A to B a lot faster that way.
