This is an open letter to the developers themselves :)

How Ultrawide Support is PROPERLY Implemented.

PROPER implementation of this support stretches the viewable area as large as possible while maintaining aspect ratio, then increases the field of view to fit the screen resolution, allowing more of the game world to be visible. Some games may only increase the field of view horizontally (Hor+) or vertically (Vert+). The most optimal, and preferred, scaling behaviors are Expand Aspect Ratio (Hor+/Vert+) for modern high definition games, and Pixel-perfect for games that focus on lower resolutions or retro-based art styles.

With proper implementation, a game designed for 16:9 will show more of the game world when played on a 21:9 (Hor+) monitor without losing any of the “reference” field of view it would have on a 16:9 monitor.

Roughly 3.81% of All Steam users are on an Ultrawide screen resolution.

That's more people on Ultrawide (monitors) than those who are on 4K (monitors).
I myself own a 3440x1440 monitor and unfortunately many developers have flat-out not supported these ratios (21:9, 32:9) either at all or as a badly implemented after-thought. My question - Could the Dev team PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE implement full *NATIVE* Ultrawide Monitor support and everything that entails (User Interface, etc.)?

So many Ultrawide users in the community feel like they are either an afterthought or not considered part of the target audience.

With so many games being developed to the typical 1920x1080 / 16:9 and all others depending on a code-savvy member of the community to "FIX" this oversight for the rest of the community, it is very frustrating to see the same old problem surfacing in NEW games.

Ultrawide monitor ratios have been supported for over 17 years already.

It's time to get serious about this. Half-Life 2 (2004) had full native support for all monitor ratios and ultrawide screen resolutions. This has been supported for at least over 17 years already from both big-budget studios and even tiny, 3-person development teams over the last 2 decades. It was supported natively, even back in an era when 1080p wasn't the common resolution for the masses.

Myself and MANY other people would be grateful to you all if you provided full NATIVE support for other monitor ratios besides the common 16:9 ratio. Your games would LITERALLY reach a wider audience. There is truly no reason Ultrawide screen support should ever be unaccounted-for in a game's development cycle, especially when it directly results in a loss of profit by excluding a VIABLE audience willing to pay for your product. Since there is no answer from devs, i am posting that again :

Spent some time to test it, still not fixed ... It's been 4 MONTHS !!!!

It almost does the trick but weapons/tolls are too zoomed in.

Wait - this game does not support 21:9? I have been playing with no issues until now and didn't notice anything weird. Everything looks fine and not distorted to me....

it's not distorted but for widescreen it is equivalent to render at 16:9 and cut top and bottom to fit the widescreen resolution. So you lose a lot of vertical vision. In 32:9 we lose around 40% ....
Try the game in 16:9, make a screenshot (DONT MOVE) then switch to 21:9 and make a new screenshot and look at the difference.
Playing in widescreen in icarus is like playing with a helmet, which has a rectangle for vision, on.
Ok, so it does cut off at the top and bottom. I never noticed it, in 21:9 not much is missing but I can imagine that at 32:9 it will be nearly unplayable.

It really depends. I have tried the trick above and it looks rather weird to be because i am not used to it.

Hmmm yea this is what I thought would happen......
Dev's got in and promised fix's, looked good in the forums made as many sales as possible then ditch.

I refunded my game and then purchased again believing the dev's BS.
Now I am angry (yes also at my self) not just at the developers,
who obviously do not care that they are known as incompetent lairs. Who troll their customers with bad products (I have not played DayZ but there seems to be some dissatisfaction with Dean Hall over the game not being finished YIKES..... Wish I had known this b4)

I have now spent some hours playing and it is possible to play with the community work around but it is NOT perfect and requires that the game dev's do a little tweeking
I do not see why I should be forced to pay a 3rd party such as HaYDeN to fix this so we can all play.
The dev's should properly support their product

Shame this seem's like a good game apart from this

what are you "waiting" for? My friends and I have been playing the game flawlessly in ultra-wide since we got it.. is there some other weird configuration you are waiting for?

Full HD is still the most used resolution. Not everyone can buy a creme de la creme GPU and an expensive high res monitor.
The new thing is going to be 1440P then maybe in a couple years or a decade 4K.

Then sorry to tell you that but you and your friends are blind or ignorant :D You have a cropped image in ultrawide, you are losing 40% of vertical image lul

I dunno man, most of the people I play with use 4k now and have for a while. But Im an old guy (In my 40s) and so are the people I run with... so I guess we have more play money than most gamers... I think the "stereotypical gamer" is a younger 20 something guy right? Seems reasonable I guess.

But my point wasnt about HD being in high circulation it was that 4k certainly isnt gimiky in its current form. In its initial form when it launched on TVs? Sure it was, I'd even go a step further and say it was predatory and gimmiky.

But now, today? Naw man, its solid tech.
